Private sector added 163,000 new jobs in July: ADP

The private sector created 163,000 net new jobs in July, exceeding analysts' expectations but still indicating sluggish economic growth ahead of Friday’s government unemployment report.

The figures released Wednesday by private payroll firm Automatic Data Processing Inc. showed job growth was down compared with a revised 172,000 net new private-sector jobs in June. But the July growth was above the 120,000 economists had projected.

"This increase marks 2 1/2 years of positive job growth," said Carlos A. Rodriguez, ADP’s chief executive. "Although encouraging, we'd like to see continued growth but at more robust and consistent levels.”

The ADP report is closely watched as a gauge of job growth, although it does not include public-sector employment as the government's report does.

But ADP is not always a reliable indicator. In June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said the private sector added just 84,000 net new jobs, less than half what ADP reported. Read more.....

  1. 175,000 new jobs need to be added each month just to break even with population growth as new first time workers enter the market.

    We are still moving backwards!

  2. Trickle down poverty is the legacy of Obama. Not to overshadow the criminal enterprise of his administration which is the most corrupt in the history of the republic.

  3. Trickle down economics started with Reagan and was pushed by Bush. We have had 11 years of the Bush tax cuts--do you see any job creation?

Anonymous 9:04--all you do is repeat what you hear on Fox News. I would say Bush and Cheney were the most criminal and I fault the Dems for not going after them. Meanwhile, Obama has mostly continued Bush's policies, so if you're going after Obama now, why weren't you doing something when Bush was lying us into war?

    1. Although "trickle down" theory is usually attributed to Reagan (Republicans), he wasn't the only president to cut tax rates across the board. JFK (Democrat) enacted similar tax cuts in 1962. That being said, blaming tax cuts or no tax cuts as the sole reason why we have a sluggish economy is dishonest.

Sharon, for someone who claims to know her history, you sure do spew nothing but left-wing talking points. The reason why people go after Obama now is...HE'S THE PRESIDENT!

If you were hired as the new CEO for a company and you didn't make things better in 4 yrs (less when pertaining to a CEO), who would you blame? The former CEO? Your arguments are always the same! Always wanting to take the focus off of democrats, in this case Obama.

Your problem with Obama is that he's not left enough for you.

  4. Sharonsj is the typical water carrying Marxist ass sucker who enjoys the taste of crap.

Doing or saying anything to feel she is part of the elite will not help her, but that is mental illness and only a trained professional may be helpful.

The debt and job destruction we have witnessed under Obama have no match in history. He has crushed small business and added more debt than all prior presidents combined. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. A reset is coming and it will be ugly. Maybe sharonsj has some good recipes to share for shit stew since she is so well versed in ass kissing?

  5. You have famous quotes by many presidents and the famous quote that Obama will leave behind is

"If you've got a business, you didn't build that"

"I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody." -- defending his tax plan to Joe the Plumber, who argued that Obama's policy hurts small-business owners like himself, Toledo, Ohio, Oct. 12, 2008

"We're not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that's fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you've made enough money. But, you know, part of the American way is, you know, you can just keep on making it if you're providing a good product or providing good service. We don’t want people to stop, ah, fulfilling the core responsibilities of the financial system to help grow our economy." —on Wall Street reform, Quincy, Ill., April 29, 2010

Congress passed the health care law under a "strong majority." 217 to 212 votes. "Strong majority" in Obamaspeak.

Bailouts are awesome: "On the day I took office, our auto industry was on the verge of collapse. Some even said we should let it die. With a million jobs at stake, I refused to let that happen. ... Today, General Motors is back on top as the world's number one automaker. Chrysler has grown faster in the U.S. than any major car company. ... We bet on American workers. We bet on American ingenuity. And tonight, the American auto industry is back." --Barack Obama

Bailouts are terrible: "It's time to apply the same rules from top to bottom: No bailouts, no handouts, and no copouts. An America built to last insists on responsibility from everybody." --Barack Obama, later in the same SOTU

Incidentally, Obama bought union votes with $390,000,000 in taxpayer money with subsidies to General Motors. $7,500 taxpayer funded rebates.
