Are We Days Away from Economic Chaos?

America is just a few days away from a possible day of reckoning. I again call attention to this day, August 25, when the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation issues its 2nd Quarter report for 2009 on the state of health of American banks.

It has not particularly alarmed Americans that its growth and prosperity have been built upon debt. The American public is a bit desensitized, particularly since the Y2K threat fizzled. We must wait and see how Americans respond to the upcoming FDIC report.

The following charts tell the story. There are roughly 8400 American banks that set aside a small portion of their profits to aggregately insure bank depositors should their local bank fail. A plethora of bank failures has depleted the FDIC reserve fund from $52.8 billion in 2008 to $13 billion in the 1st Quarter of 2009. (See chart above)
Alison Vekshin, writing for Bloomberg, indicates

"The failure of 77 banks this year is draining the fund, prompting the agency in May to set an emergency fee of 5 cents for every $100 of assets, excluding Tier 1 capital, to raise $5.6 billion in the second quarter. The agency has authority to set fees in the third and fourth quarters, if needed, to prevent a decline in the fund from undermining public confidence."

Vekshin goes on to report that 56 bank failures since March 31 have cost the FDIC an estimated $16 billion. (For comparison, in the 1st Quarter, bank failures only cost the FDIC $2.2 billion.) That $16 billion bank rescue would fully deplete the FDIC fund as it only had $13 billion at the close of the 1stQuarter. It’s possible the FDIC has already tapped into its line of credit at the Treasury Department without setting off alarm bells to the public.

The mother of all bank runs?

Now if just a small portion of American bank depositors hear that the FDIC had to tap into the US Treasury for funds, and these depositors feel their banked money is at risk and want to withdraw some of it, the mother of all bank runs could ensue. This could create the day of reckoning that many have predicted. A short banking holiday would have to be declared and who knows what happens from there – troops in the streets, issuance of new currency, martial law? Don’t think those in the Federal government haven’t made plans for such an occurrence.

  1. Let's not forget Guaranty Financial, closed by regulators today. About 160 branches worth with the deposits and some assets being purchased by Spain's 2nd largest bank.

  2. They will delay it for 2 weeks, then when it comes out it will be full of phoney numbers. That's the way the game is played...extend and pretend.

  3. Don't we already know what will happen?

CNN, CNBC, Rueters, Bloomberg, etc will bury the report. Front page news will instead be some trivial event claimed to be a positive sign and thus stocks will be up for the day (again on low volume consisting mostly of GS and JPM trading).

  5. I hate to be a selfish dick, but I hope the fake economy and the liars all the best.

Keep the BS going as far as it will go. Yes it is a Ponzi, yes all our politicians and processes are meaningless. They are all bought for by the bankers. So what.

I don't want to live like a rat, starving. I don't want to see people suffering. I know we deserve it because what we have done to the Iragis and others; just murder. Somehow, please, just keep the debt ponzi economy and fake Amerika going a few more years. Yes, I am an asshole but I am an honest asshole.

  6. August 25th huh...What happened to the collapse that was suppose to happen in March 2009 from that "secret congress meeting" where the US was suppose to default on their debt? Enough with the dates already.

  8. To "selfish Dick" anon above -

I see your point, but I can't stomach the thought of our government robbing us blind for years on. My sense of morality and principles tells me that we must do everything in our power to stop this, for our kids sake if nothing else.

  9. No, sooner or later, TSHF scenario will happen. It doesn't take a genius to figure out we have no money, we are $100+ trillion in the hole. This country can not continue to survive especially since almost everything we hear on TV and newspapers is total 100% BS.

The criminal activity of the US can not continue, either Russia or China will blow us up or the fake debt economy will collapse, there is absolutely positively NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!

A huge majority of the dumbed down brainwashed American idiotic public have absolutely no clue as to what is going on. They are worried about if the Referee's microphone will work in Jerry's new $1.2 billion Colosseum paid for by IDIOTS in Arlington, TX, the colosseum built and paid for by citizens of Arlington, TX and the Arlington residents or slaves can not afford to attend. LOL, what total frickin idiots.

It's called mind control & brain washing, just keep watching your TV, and everything will be fine, at least you will be told to think everything is ok. After all, yesterday, Benarke said we are almost out of our recession (LOL-recession?) and guess what, the idiotic American public believe him.

  11. "Selfish dick", you are not exactly in the minority there with your sentiments. Virtually every American and consumer in the first world would like to continue living in the status quo as if nothing was wrong, comfortably consuming off the backs of the starving poor whose backs we also fill with bullets when we need their land or resources. It's kind of like when you are sick: you don't want to puke but you know its coming because you feel the queesiness coming on, but in the end you'll feel better once you get over the hump.

  13. Most Americans accept as reality - perceived or staged threats, mythology, the war on terror - all scripted lies to support a clandestine empire via mind control manipulation. We are stuck in the adhesive gunk which is the general populace of the deluded.

A fake puppet show of politicians. Deception everywhere. Sounds corny, but the only thing that is real is love and caring for one another. John Lennon pretty much said it best.

  14. "Most Americans accept reality-all.....", THANK you anonymous, I could not agree with you more.

People live and entertain themselves on "deception", while a few of us face reality.

Stay away, long long distance from your TV and newspaper, and the few will avoid the "deception" while the others spend their time watching TV and spending their debt money at "OutBack" or their local "ChinaCentralMart".

The few will eat while the others are starving, rioting and heading for their internment.

  15. God, if even given a .0000001% chance of being real, simple does not give a shit. You are on your own. There is no white horsey coming the clouds riding toward you. No floating away. Just deal with it. Fight. Survive. Think.

  18. Pretty much. Barring all the BS religions if there is a master creator it just couldn't care a less. There are billions of systems, millions if not more civilizations of other species out there. We are insignificant in any creator's eyes. Time to put that myth crap aside and deal with hardship that old fashioned way. With your mind. There have been many civilizations on planet Earth that have come and gone before us. We just have to deal with it the best we can.

I believe Jesus rose from the dead
mainly because the love inside him
    conquered death.

And so it shall conquer death again

    death shall flea love

  23. See and learn who's behind it all... Notice the capstone on the Amero "IS" in place!

I am sending you some dynamite for you to use as you see fit. I have thru the years tried to share these things with people a little bit at the time... I realize everyone is busy; Nonetheless, ponder this from Manly P. Hall...... The High Freemasons, and the Illuminati; which at the top are the same... But, the power leading them atop it all certainly is without doubt or question; the Jesuit Order. From his own mouth; Look at his statement:
Everyone SHOULD BE FULLY AWARE.....without question, doubt or uncertainty.... read what their #2 man spoke... he certainly had clout amongst the Freemasons; second only to Albert Pike the Grand Commander...
Soon as I saw this LONG AGO I put it away UNTIL i put up my site.... It is from my site(page 2).... Really ponder these words... How much plainer can it be?
"Not only were many of the founders of the United States government Masons, but they received aid from a (secret and august body) existing in Europe which helped them to establish this country for "A PECULIAR AND PARTICULAR PURPOSE" known only to the initiated few.

The "Great Seal" (dollar bill) is the "signature" of this exalted body, unseen and for the most part unknown; and the (UNfinished pyramid) upon its reverse side is a trestleboard setting forth symbolically the task to the accomplishment of which the United States Government was dedicated (from the day of its inception)

This exalted body is none other than the Jesuit Order of Priests!

  25. Well if beleiving in Lord Jesus Christ means I will burn in hell....so be it.

I love Him and He Loves Me.

    How's that for a retort?

I'm seeing how pathetic so many of you are.

The emperor wears no clothes indeed.

Btw, Jesus had an ego. He just used it

  26. Sooo, why are you people arguing over who is what, and perpetuating ignorance by throwing out profanities? I mean, c'mon!

Most of you have valid points and great insight; however, throwing in obscenities & insults at one another completely dilutes your message(s) and compromises any credibility you may have!

Furthermore, it will turn into nothing but a sparring match for the dimwitted, which is something I hope can be controlled.

Anyway, I was interested in finding anyone who lives in the UK, who can give us a "heads up" on what happens there on a daily basis...I feel our situation will parallel theirs, if not immediately afterward. Any thoughts?

    Thanks.
