Stories of Unemployment
Bank accounts are empty. $300 to our name. I don't know what I will do. I have nowhere to turn. I bought too many "things".

MAN IN THE VAN
As He Drives Across the Country, an Unemployed Oregonian Chronicles The Recession by Asking People to Write Their Tales on His Orange Van
Lost my job. Became homeless. Been robbed, abused, discriminated, arrested, and neglected. There is no compassion in America," reads one tale scrawled on the side of his van, parked in downtown Washington on Wednesday

boo hoo? I have heard stories much worse than these, come on
ReplyDeleteyes, this site blows goats
ReplyDeleteWord. The Brothers ain't heard from yet.
ReplyDeleteThese people still have food, water, shelter, and a running vehicle.
ReplyDeleteShow their stories when they are on the streets, because there is a backlog at the shelter. When cities go broke, the charities are first to get the ax.
They then have to fight off other homeless people from robbing them of their shoes and other remaining belongings; possibly their very lives.
They also awakening to other homeless people urinating on them or using their sleeping place as a crap toilet.
Any medical conditions they may have will go untreated because no hospital will help a bum drenched in piss.
Then they can look forward to being bullied and humiliated by cops who say they 'can't sleep there.' The cops will not be impressed by the urine stink or the stories of 'I used to be successful and lived in a McMansion.'
Next up they start giving BJs for $5 or robbing old ladies of their food outside the QuikMart.
When they are near death they will be taken to a Fema camp to continue to starve and die, but out of sight, out of mind.
Eventualy they are buried in a plasti-foam coffin with no name enscribed, or just cremated at the Fema camp. No one cares. They join tens of thousands of others in mass graves or piles of ashes.
Anyone who thinks this video shows people in 'hard times' has no idea what hard times are and what is to come.
$300.00 is more than I have. I am over $200.00 overdrawn and have an eviction notice.
ReplyDeleteSo help me God.
1:58 what are you doing with an internet connection? Everyone has a story, lets hear some worse than these. I haven't heard of ANY on this blog
ReplyDeleteThere is free internet everywhere. Food is a lot harder to get than internet.
ReplyDeleteI think EA got the wrong video posted on this story? These people are wrong from the beginning, and they should have done something about it much much much sooner. I dont think this story goes with its intended post. I was expecting a video slide show about some hard working folk who thru no fault of their own are on the skids. This is evidently the wrong video.
ReplyDeleteWhat a let down.
ReplyDeleteI was really looking forward to some depressing stories like that last woman who bought too much - would have been sweet to hear she had to get into hooking... yeah.
WTF?!@# These people know nothing about hard times yet, lol. It will get worse, A LOT WORSE than this
ReplyDeleteHard Times.
ReplyDeleteIt's like that
and that's the way it is
HUH
I think that moderating commenters and making the posters sign up for handles would make a difference on this important blog. I won't donate until you get rid of the immature spammers. BTW, your blog is really good, but the commentary needs moderation. Since there are so few comments to begin with, and no wonder, It should be easy to do it yourself. Thanks for the blog in general, though. I read every post of yours.
ReplyDeleteTrying to control freedom of speech, are we..?
ReplyDeleteSaying you wll donate only if you get your way is really bratty. Who is the immature commenter. Go look in the mirror.
No shit. Just for that I am doubling my contribution this month.
ReplyDeleteI ran into this same thing over on Financial Armageddon blog. By the time the posters got through with that family, there was hell to pay. This is very similar. The family that was the subject of that posting took what I have to call a "real internet whuppin" for the shape they were in and I was as vocal as any, and they deserved it.
ReplyDeleteIts impossible to make everyone happy. I really don't remove posts unless someone calls me every name under the sun, even then I can take it and leave the post. Every poster has an opinion about every article and I accept whatever they say. I think I removed about 3 posts since inception, so fire away.
ReplyDeleteGood grief, these folks are down and out?
ReplyDeleteThey have not spoke to my grandparents who lived thru the first one.....I pray they don't have to go thru the next one
EA is a post OP transexual!!! LOL -- You said fire away!
ReplyDeleteBe merciful, I am one of the very few financial contributors :).
We are NOT blaming you EA! We think you just got tricked on this one.
ReplyDeleteThe Golden Rule.
ReplyDeleteLearn it well.
You will be judged.
Prepare the World for bad news : Hunger , poverty (more ??) and deception !!
ReplyDeleteThe Rapture happened and yall are the garbage left over.
ReplyDeletePrepare to be devoured by gigantic hoofed demonic wolf beings from Mars.
The word "rapture" was never in any of the ancient texts. It's a false rabbit trail for people like you to believe! Ha, hee, hee.
ReplyDeleteI read the articles and must say for many Americans its too late…all the signs of pending catastrophe are there, heck they’ve been there for the past 5-6 years, yet we persist in buying 60 inch flats screens and await to suckle on the teat of Mother government when the repo man comes. Mom is close to going bust and the time has come for all adolescents regardless of age to become adults!
ReplyDeleteThis was produced by the LA Times, they are not going to show what is really going on. It's just that simple. The dumbed down idiotic American public know no better. They think the economy is coming back and everything will be ok. After all, that's what their TV's and newspapers are telling them.
ReplyDeleteI agree, these people are not down and out like many were in the depression, however, none of them were exactly doing great. And the lady who went on welfare, what a great example to tell the sheeple. If your down and out, just go on welfare (or to a FEMA camp).
The sheeple will NEVER know what is really gong on by watching their TV's, they are told continual lies about the economy, that way the sheeple will still spend their money, go to their sports activities and buy new cars. Then when a sheeple looses it's job, and will have NO Savings, they can go on welfare, i.e. a FEMA camp.
Time is short, you better prepare...
Here's a recession-buster! NoseSecret, a 30-dollar alternative to getting a nose job that sells at Amazon com
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice the time on that video was 4:44? That's not very far off from 6:66 if you just add 2:22. And the lord said pay attention to the sign (of the times). I hope you are all prepared and will be like Bruce Willis in Die Hard I. We was very industrious and knew how to handle a gun to boot.
ReplyDeleteNow I don't think you need to learn how to walk on glass (leave that to JEsus plz!) but it is important to be able to know shit like how to set c4 or work an automatic wweapon if need be. Because when the skyscrapers start to blow up and fall it's gonna be hell to pay. My advice is to invest in gold and bullet proof vests. Bullet proof vests can be traded for food and water or the kevlar can be reused for coating on your cookware.
I met the Man in the Van. Nice guy actually.
ReplyDeleteI'm the man in the VAN
ReplyDeleteBuried in my FUMES
Won't you come and save me
