Stunning Collapse Of Las Vegas

There are quite a few U.S. cities that are complete and utter economic disaster zones in 2010 (Detroit for example), but there is something about the demise of Las Vegas that is absolutely stunning.
In recent decades, Las Vegas has become a symbol for the over-the-top affluence and decadence of America.  But now it is a microcosm of the economic nightmare that has gripped the entire nation.  When the subprime mortgage crisis stuck, no major U.S. city was more devastated than Las Vegas.  When the recession went from bad to worse, Americans decided that they really didn't need to gamble so much and casino revenues plummeted.  Suddenly unemployment started to increase dramatically in Vegas and even today it continues to soar.  Like so many other cities that are highly dependent on tourism and entertainment, Las Vegas has gone from boom to bust.  Local officials are hoping that the worst will soon be over, but the truth is that the worst is yet to come.
As the U.S. economy continues to unravel, average Americans will be spending what little money they do have to put a roof over their heads and to feed their families.   The truth is that the glory days of Las Vegas are over and they are not coming back.
Already, the number of unemployed in Las Vegas is reaching unprecedented levels.  Unemployment rates for the state of Nevada and for the city of Las Vegas both set new records during the month of April.  In Las Vegas the unemployment rate in April was 14.2%.  For the entire state the unemployment rate was 13.7%.

  1. The reality show Pawn Stars, which is set in Las Vegas, is a reflection of this. On the show, a seemingly endless parade of desperate people come into the shop to sell their possessions. The show tries to downplay it, but you can sense the desperation of the people selling grandpa's heirlooms to survive another month.

  2. Materialistic Wiggers/Gangbangers/Grifters/Cokeheaded Strippers/Degenarate gamblers...Feel bad for the real locals but as for the rest?...Couldn't happen to a worse bunch of people.

  3. The most stark example of this is the sparkling new City Center, unveiled last last year at the staggering cost of 8.5 BILLION. I saw it in early January when I was in Vegas, and it was almost entirely vacant- some of the buildings in the complex remain empty shells, unlikely to be finished out for years, if ever. Very sad....

  4. Gee, I thought we were in a recovery and everything was great in Vegas? Darn those fox news financial babes!

The only good thing happening in Vegas is the gigantic casinos are going under, many financed by the banksters and global elite.

Meanwhile, the sheeple slaves will be starving in the streets, a similar scenario we shall soon see in many amerikan cities.

  5. Las Vegas is in so much trouble, the actual unemployment rate is about 30%, dont believe the lies. Prostituts are leaving and going to their original homes to live with parents, because as one told me yesterday, they want to give me $20.00 for sex, I just cant make it here anymore.

  6. I bought a condo 6 years ago for around 350 thousand and it peaked at 500 thousand in value. My taxes are for 300 thousand. Today I cant even sell it no one has the cash or even wants one. I was told to list it for 148 thousand. wtf is going on?? I guess the party is over. I do own a acre lot west of the main strip with hopes to be bought out for alot dollars from expansion that is all over also. Oh well I will keep for my little girl maybe if there is a vegas left she can reap the rewards. fricking bankers suck.

Frankly, I think you should put this right above 'Stunning Collapse of Las Vegas'

  8. Saudi Princes, ya - those are the M F'rs that drove our planes into the Pentagon on 9-11-01 and cut the heads off anyone accused of preaching the Holy Bible in their desert wasteland of a country. There is an apocalypse waiting for them Saudis, no doubt.

  9. I think the apocalypse is the mass confusion about who the enemy really is.

Too many bad apples in the barrel.

    Great Tribulation upon us.

  10. I live in a place called the Pahrump Valley, about 60 west up in the mountains, in Nye County. The unemployment in this county is around 25% official rate, one of the worst in the nation (also thanks to Senator Harry Ried , as he helped close the Yucca Mountain project ). Foreclosures are rampart here, and on every street there are empty houses, and there is no extra work out here. Las Vegas maybe dieing, but Pahrump is already smelling.

  11. At least my 27 year old kid still has a job at Starbucks in Henderson, Nevada. That's the quiet city next to Las Vegas where all the better paid casino employees once lived.

I was in Vegas over Memorial Day weekend, kind of a pit stop only and I had a chance to have dinner with my kiddo. We ate at a one-location, mom and pop style pizza joint. It was Sunday and with 30 min left before closing, our order was the 4th pizza cooked all day!

    RIP Las Vegas!

  12. 2:14 the people that drove a missile/drone into the Pentagon wear yarmulkes, not towels on their heads. Let's see.. who could have had our entire air command stand down, who sent five people to film it from a rooftop, who owns the banks, the media in order to cover it up .... wake the hell up stooge.

  13. Sadly, this is just the beginning. Things in Las Vegas will get much worst. The collapse will spread coast-to-coast. Most don't believe it, but they will be shown for the sloppy thinkers they are.

According to some sources, Goldman Sachs holds credit default swaps against bonds held by the City of Los Angeles and State of California. These CDSs are undoubtedly highly leveraged (with borrowed money from the Fed at 0 or .25%) and potentially killer profitable! Rest assured. Goldman will make default a reality before long. The term of CDSs is usually one year.

The final implosion is planned and forthcoming, soon, that is.
