How long do we have?

This talk was presented at
The New Emergency Conference in Dublin, on June 11, 2009

Good morning. The title of this talk is a bit of a mouthful, but what I want to say can be summed up in simpler words: we all have to prepare for life without much money, where imported goods are scarce, and where people have to provide for their own needs, and those of their immediate neighbours. I will take as my point of departure the unfolding collapse of the global economy, and discuss what might come next. It started with the collapse of the financial markets last year, and is now resulting in unprecedented decreases in the volumes of international trade. These developments are also starting to affect the political stability of various countries around the world. A few governments have already collapsed, others may be on their way, and before too long we may find our maps redrawn in dramatic ways.

  1. Depends on how you define the cliff. If you are talking about a full scale Greater Depression, perhaps less than six months. We will know by August how bad it likely will get.

I encourage everyone to get the real economic numbers, not the pabulum CPI, GDP, ect from the Administration-controlled press. Places like John Williams' shadowstats. Then you will know the real edge of the cliff.

If you take all the potential catastrophes that could befall us in the next two years (depression, hyperinflation, terrorism, pandemic) I believe we have greater than a 75% chance of any one event coming to pass.

Our Republic is in greater danger now than at any time in our history - with the exception of the Civil War or the War of Independence.

  2. George Washington reportedly had a vision the eve of the first battle for independanc in which he foresaw three wars to be fought upon American soil. The first was the revolution, the second the civil war, and the third is rapidly approaching.

Nostradamus predicted a global depression in the end of days, during which nuclear terrorism would begin, culminating in the final battle of Armegeddon.

The current pope is the second to last, after him is supposed to be one more good pope, to be called Peter the Roman who will have to flee the Vatican seeking refuge, probably from the threat of nuclear terrorism.

    Then a bad pope comes...

It is reported that Henry Kissinger made an offhand remark to someone at the Bilderberger conferance that by september, all guns in the United States shall have been confiscated.

  4. Good old Henry. The scumbag Oligarch's go-to guy.

What else did he say? Oh yeah - "All military men are dumb, stupid animals."

This coming from arch criminal and war monger #1. Sadly, people still sign up for service in the banker wars that have nothing to do with defending America.

  6. I would say the danger now exceeds the dangers the nation faced during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, simply because of the lifestyle and geographic changes since then.

Today most people live an Urban or Suburban lifestyle and are serfs tied to the corporations and the government. Such a lifestyle reduces ones ability to be self sufficient, as one has neither the knowledge or the means to fend for oneself.

Thus the greater populace is in dangers way when something as trivial and common as a large storm hits an area. Should a true disaster appear, the larger populace would suffer greatly and like dominos, their problems would ripple throughout the nation.

Financial security can not help when there is no goods to buy, no services available. Only by making sure that you and yours have the means and knowledge to survive civil and natural disruptions of the means of commerce, will you truely know how safe and comfortable you can be.

I would favor food over all other investments at this late juncture, and when that is sufficently accumulated for the timeline you feel you need, then consider water and energy. Both of which are difficult to store in large quantities, but will be needed.

We have been living in a time like no other, we have enjoyed considerable ease and quiet, the climate has been mild, and the economy strong, disease has been held at arms length, but all seasons come to an end and we must prepare for the next. It is sheer folly to think that because the world has always been as it is now, during our lives, that it will always be so. We are overdue for many changes, and will likely find ourselves dealing with many changes simultaneously, the way ahead is not clear nor easily extrapolated from our present condition, all we can do is prepare while we have time.

Good luck and remember this world as we enter the next one, perhaps it will provide a primer on what not to do when rebuilding our future.

  7. The patriot movement has failed; some have been in it since the 60's exposing NWO, UN, Fed res. all has been in vain and many in their 60's & older have given up; some are hunkering down preparing..too bad the churches and businessmen didn't stand up enmass and take the country back..We're a nation of whimps and losers; but retirees have lived the best decades of their lives; no future for the younger generations!

  8. Would it ever occur to anyone that our politicians purposely got us into this situation? For their own enrichment?

Anyone who votes for an incumbent is a fool.

Get out of the cities. Start a garden. Become self sufficient.
