SEATTLE—A push to legalize marijuana on the West Coast is picking up steam as Washington lawmakers and pot proponents in California and Oregon propose separate measures.
The Washington state legislature will hold a preliminary vote Wednesday on whether to sell pot in state liquor stores, though even its authors say the bill is unlikely to pass. The same day in California, backers of a well-funded ballot measure to legalize marijuana are expected to file more than enough signatures to put the initiative before state voters in November.
Activists have also been busy in Washington state, with one group filing a marijuana-legalization initiative last Monday to put the issue on the November ballot. Activists in Oregon, meanwhile, say they have collected more than half of the signatures they need by July to allow a vote on whether the state should set up a system of medical-marijuana dispensaries.

ReplyDeleteOver the years I have heard alot of arguments pro and con and I must say alot of each side made sense.
I don't really have a bias either way and still;
I hesitate - makes me wonder what making a really, really big, controversial decision must be like.
But that's still what makes this the USA - people on this site say alot of really negative things about this country and they will say even more about what I've said here; but if we were in China right now ( or 9 other countries I can think of) we wouldn't even be having this long distance conversation.
Moderation - moderation in ALL things - If you've a hankerin' for a snort of jack daniels every day; I've no problem with that.
If you've a toke off a joint now and then; I've no problem with that.
We in this country have a tendancy however to take everything to extremes & so it is with weed.

ReplyDeleteI have actually witnessed 2 people died from alcohol abuse, I've never heard of anyone dying from smoking marijuana. Big Pharma doesnt like you to make your own medicine.

I always loved the people describing pot smoking as 'using" like they are shooting up herion or something. They don't even realize they're saying it but it lets you know where they stand.

ReplyDeletePrior to our invasion and occupation of Afghanistan the Taliban burned out 98% of the poppy fields because of their religious convictions.
ReplyDeleteThe farmers had no choice but to start growing corn, wheat, etc.
We didn't care for that much. We (as in black ops, CIA) are the #1 drug pushers in the world. So, one of the first things we did was allow any farmer to go back to growing poppy, cut deals, restart distribution channels.
Since a poppy farmer makes 20x+ what a corn farmer made it was an easy sale.
In 2002 the poppy fields were all gone, now they are all back in full production, actually stronger than ever. Production is now protected by the strongest military in the world.
That is one of the things American soldiers put their lives at risk for - drug sales. Of course there are other reasons like oil/gas pipelines, etc. Only a completely deluded populace of a clandestine Empire could believe otherwise.
Drugs that are controllable in terms of production we like. Of course Pharm drugs which are nothing more than poison for profit we like also (see video 'psychotronic drugs').
Drugs that do no harm and cannot successfully be controlled like pot we hate.
It is all about what it is always about. The almighty dollar/profit. The side benefit of Pharm drugs is that the elite gets much more than what Hitler did by tainting water with Flouride. 50% of Americans are on anti-depressant, mind altering drugs.
That is all there is to it.
If the government could successfully profit from and control pot, it would be sold in every 7-11.
The government doesn't care at all about your health. Not at all, not one bit. It is a giant corp called the USA and it is about PROFIT.
The push to legalize pot would be like video gaming. Only the government is allowed to play on your vices.

Cancer is a deficiency disease. Smoking, etc, are only triggers. There are whole populations that have never had one reported case of cancer. Why? The have the necessary diet to stop cancer in its tracks.
Learning truth about certain things can save your life. Anyone who dies of cancer does so out of ignorance. Harsh statement, but true.

Would the FDA and its owner corporations keep information from people regarding natural treatments that work in order to protect billions in profits?

This earned him a trip to Federal Prison. THAT is how low they will go to make sure that 25% get cancer and start paying up the nose.
Cancer was cured in the 50s, 60 years ago.
