Jobless rate in February 750,000 will top a MILLION soon! 3000 people show up for PART TIME jobs at the ZOO!

The first published guess of job losses for the U.S. in February is out: -750,000. They are also predicting it will soon reach 1,000,000.

Analysts said there had been no let-up in the bad news since the turn of the year and the markets are now braced for payroll figures next Friday to show that around 750,000 jobs were lost in the US during February, with worse to come in future months.

Rob Carnell, economist at ING Financial Markets, said: "Data released so far in the first quarter of 2009 suggest that we are in for another horror story, with new record lows being set in consumer confidence, accelerating declines in the labour market [we may be nearing a million payrolls losses per month before long.

In Britain 3000 people showed up for a part time job at the ZOO!
More than three thousand people hoping for a job queued up outside the zoo in Atherstone, Warwickshire, prompting three-mile tailbacks on the nearby A444.
Staff at the zoo were called on to divert traffic on the congested road, and after an hour were forced to stop applicants entering the zoo's grounds.
Twycross Zoo was attempting to find 150 seasonal staff, including cooks and rangers, to work during weekends, Bank Holidays and school holidays this year. The recruitment day attracted just 500 people last year.
Kim Riley, from the zoo, said: "We have been absolutely inundated with people. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the queues this morning.
"The recruitment day was supposed to run from 11am until 3pm today but we had people queuing up at the gate before 9am.
