First, we will have an economic depression. If the CAR, or "attack rate" (the percentage of people in the population) who get the flu is in the typical range of 40-60% of the population, then a CFR of 2-3% means one million or more dead Americans this fall and winter, or more succinctly, somewhere around one in a hundred. If your kid goes to school with 1,000 other people, 10 of them will die (on average.)
This sort of disruption in the economy, given where it is now, guarantees a contraction of GDP of 10% or more from the top, which is the definition of economic depression. We can argue about "how bad of a depression" later.
Second, if these numbers are anywhere close to reality the entire US medical care system will effectively collapse. We do not have 10% of the medical infrastructure necessary to treat 1 million Americans presenting to hospitals over a 2-3 month time frame with critical (and ultimately terminal!) symptoms, nor can we possibly treat the ten times greater count of people who will present to a hospital with what look to be critical symptoms but ultimately survive.
If these numbers are anywhere close to accurate the quality of medical care available in The United States will almost instant return to 1950s-style medicine - that is, little more than aspirin and perhaps some antibiotics for secondary bacterial infections, plus careful observation.

ReplyDeleteThe CFR seems a bit high, but this is the CDC making the prediction, so it should be taken seriously. Perhaps they are expecting a slightly mutated virus. The vaccine will be much too late (November, from last I heard). In addition to the deaths, the lost work days will also damage the economy. The current debate over healthcare is quite laughable considering that the system has a poor prognosis for surviving the winter. That said, we could get very lucky in all of this.

We also have commercial buildings and hotels standing empty after the real estate crash. (I've alwasy thought we have MORE than enough roof-covered structures in the US so that we should not have any homeless, but that's another story conservatives don't want to hear.)

ReplyDeleteI started reading a book today called "Detoxify or Die" by Sherry Rogers M.D. I read that a normal city has 500 chemicals in its water supply alone. Plus whatever is in the air and the food plus all the containers the food/water is stored in. It's pretty horrific so far...just one more way in which we are being killed.
DT you can do a search for "Natural News" which is a great organic health site. Lots of information about detoxing and getting ready if you have to take any vaccine.
Oh yeah one more thing. The elites may dump vaccines into the water supply so having a top notch filtration unit is vital. We can go quite a few days without food but we will day in a few days from lack of water.
I figure the vaccines will be pushed on us. It's not like our CONgressmen actually listen to us. For each CONgressman there are six(6!) health lobbyists pumping fists full of dollars into our elected officials pockets.
I don't know whether to rage or burst into tears.

Katadyn filters are also a good choice. Removes all the bad things that make you sick. Hand, portable. You could literally drink puddle water, or out of a river. For a cheap option, there are many liter-type bottles that have the filter element built-in that do very well for 50 or so refills.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't worry about super-fancy reverse osmosis or other filters that can filter out flouride. Overkill for this late in the game.
Keep 2-3 gallons of (unscented, no additive) bleach handy for water purification also. Rotate them every 90 days. Target has them for $1.30 a gallon. A half dozen drops of bleach in a quart bottle will kill everything. Don't be afraid of bleach - you have been drinking it your whole life.
Some people are ultra sensitive about what they drink taste-wise so for those I recommend an additive such as Purodene. It is used for water storage tanks in buses, etc. Actually kills everything bleach will, but improves the taste as well.
If you store water in food grade containers, it is good for a year, maybe two under ideal conditions. Add Purodene or a similar additive and the water will be drinkable for five years.
Those that don't live near a creek or some other fairly clean water source need to store water now.
Another trick when treating water in a jar or anything in a screw top container. Once you add the bleach or other purifier, only screw on the lid half way and shake. Let the treated water seep out onto the threads, etc. An old trick. If you don't do that, enough baddies will sit on the edges waiting for you to take your drink. Remember, it takes just a smear of something bad to make you very sick.

Save every single plastic bottle you would normally recycle or throw away in order to distribute and trade that water. If you have clean water for trade you will be king. No joke.

Don't store water in plastic bottles unless you check which grade of plastic the bottle is. Plastic bottles will leak Bisphenol-A into the water which is something you don't want to drink.
ReplyDeleteLook on the bottom of the plastic bottle to see which grade it is. If the number is 2, 4 or 5 you are safe. Anything else and you should throw the bottle away.
Yes. Food grade buckets with lids are usually available for free from grocery stores and bakeries. They are fine for water storage. Craigslist will have what you need also.

Hubby worked in Iraq in 04 and got some of the last anthrax shots given -- they contained squalene. He left a healthy 40 year old man, came back with Crohn's disease.

ReplyDeleteSorry to say, autism existed, not defined until the 20th century and definitely increased many fold by some environmental factor. (My bet the themerasol in vaccines or, more likely, the awful vaccine load itself.) Before it was named, those with Aspergers or Autism were simply "retarded", "odd", "mute" or maybe the crazy uncle in the attic.

On the plus side, a lot of odd intelligent types like engineers, programmers, artists and the like.
