UN: Radiation To Hit The U.S On Friday

A United Nations forecast of the possible movement of the radioactive plume coming from crippled Japanese reactors shows it churning across the Pacific, and touching the Aleutian Islands on Thursday before hitting Southern California late Friday.
Health and nuclear experts emphasize that radiation in the plume will be diluted as it travels and, at worst, would have extremely minor health consequences in the United States, even if hints of it are ultimately detectable. In a similar way, radiation from the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 spread around the globe and reached the West Coast of the United States in 10 days, its levels measurable but minuscule.
The projection, by the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization, an arm of the United Nations in Vienna, gives no information about actual radiation levels but only shows how a radioactive plume would probably move and disperse.

World Energy Crunch as Nuclear and Oil Both Go Wrong

  1. I am really afraid. Not of the radiation but of how our idiot president is going to respond.

Does anyone want to start a pool? Which constitutional rights will Obama want to get rid of because of a little radiation in California? I'm willing to bet the 2nd amendment. How about the first? What about habeus corpus? I put the chances of a complete trashing of the Constitution at 50:1. Does anyone want in?

  4. It's a tragedy and everything...but honestly, why are we getting so many articles for this?

We have bigger problems, and I come on here to see how far along we are on the road to our impending total economic collapse. I am pretty sure we're well on our way. I suspect by 2012 we'll be finished but who knows maybe it will come even earlier than that.

I'd like to know when that happens right away because the earlier I know the bigger the asset it is to me. That's why I come here. Not to read about Japan or radiation that won't harm anybody that reaches CA. Instead I want to see if CA is going bankrupt like everyone expects it to.

What's going on with subprime mortgages? What's going on with the higher education student loan scam? Is China getting rid of all its US debt?

Those are the issues I care about.

  5. All the gold, silver, and money in the world means nothing if you get sick and/or dying a slow miserable death from radiation poisoning. I guess that is why people are concerned about wether or not they are being exposed to radiation. Have to keep up with it best you can because we probably won't be told the truth about radiation levels. The world economies mean to much to the world governments to care about the peoples' health. Since our government and many other governments think that the world is over populated, what better way to reduce the population in a seemingly non-obvious way. All the nuclear "experts" are not truly experts. It is like someone who has raised a grizzly bear from the day it is born they can tame or train that bear behave a certain way, but if that bear's natural instincts ever kick in that bear can turn on that person and devour and kill that person. The nuclear power plants are like the grizzly the "experts" don't know when they will lose control of them how to stop from melting down under every circumstance. The sick bastards in Russsia have the nerve to announce on March 15 their plans to build another nuclear power plant close to where chernobyl is. When there is a meltdown it takes 245,000 years for radioacrive material to decay. Chernobyl is still hot after 25 years and can crack its sarcophagous on any given day and let lose loads of radiation just like it did in 1996, ten years after the first accident. It's obvious Japan is having a meltdown.

  6. Hey 2:10 AM

The dollar index is currently 75.99. Once it falls to 74, we're done.

    Need I say anything more?

... glad I have a couple of gas masks on hand, it's sure better than nothing, living in So. California.

  7. 11:22 What is the significance of 74? I haven't heard that before, and I read doom porn every day.
    Thanks!

  9. 74... I wish I could recall the source. A few months ago as I was beginning to understand the dollar index, I read that 74 would be the breaking point. It might have been a Btoomberg web site that mentioned it.

    Dollar Index defined

The US Dollar Index (USDX) is a futures contract offered by the New York Board of Trade. It is a trade-weighted average of six foreign currencies against the dollar. Currently, the index includes euros (EUR), Japanese yen (JPY), British pounds (GBP), Canadian dollars (CAD), Swedish kronas (SEK) and Swiss francs (CHF).

The Dollar Index broadly reflects the dollar’s standing compared to the other major currencies of the world. It is widely used to hedge risk in the currency markets or to take a position in the US Dollar without having the risk exposure of a single currency pair.
