Hello. It's me, God. I just wanted to write all of my children and tell them that it is not all that great up here either. Credit is tight and so much for all that bright light. ReplyDeleteActually , Financial Ninja with a link to the Daily Mail are covering the UK financial system troubles with current stories. Interestingly , the Uk came within three hours ( in October of 08 ) of completing nationalizing their banking system and guaranteeing all deposits due to massive attempts to pull deposits by major depositors - one must assume the banks didn't have the funds to honor the requested withdraws. Treasury was preparing for all banks to shut their doors to customers , terminate all electronic transactions and block atm transactions. What I find interesting is that this story is released on the day the UK officially goes into recession , with the RBS situation fluid - as to whether or what amount of government backstop will be provided to shore up RBS , with questions regarding Lloyds and Barclays hanging ( as to whether they will need to be nationalized. This type of story is like pouring gasoline on a fire...... very curious to me.
