Obama's pizza party

How many chefs does this man need?

When you're the president of the United States, only the best pizza will do - even if that means flying a chef 860 miles.

Chris Sommers, 33, jetted into Washington from St Louis, Missouri, on Thursday with a suitcase of dough, cheese and pans to to prepare food for the Obamas and their staff.

He had apparently been handpicked after the President had tasted his pizzas on the campaign trail last autumn.

There's something wrong with this. Maybe I'm just irritable after our Good Friday observances at the thought of all that pizza. And what do I know -- I like Domino's.

DBKP calls Obama our "Elitist in Chief" and, commenting on the accompanying photo, says this:

Damn. That looks like cucumber. Or maybe the dreaded zucchini. Pizza for a panty waist. At our expense. Obama already has the largest kitchen staff in the history of the White House. But that is not enough for this party animal. Likely the beer will be imported. America simply is not good enough for this guy.

RedState does the extravagant Obamas justice and includes this perfect Michello O quote:

“The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.”

Gak. And Michelle Malkin covers the eco-pocrisy angle, as does Ace of Spades and Motor City Times.

He's alienating Chicago, now, too. You'd think, being from Chicago (kinda), and it being one of the pizza capitals of the world (Giordano's!) he'd want to get his upscale pizza from there. But he hand-tosses them under the bus and goes with pizza from rival city St. Louis.

She's America's top "model."

Michelle Obama is the nation's first first lady to add a full-time makeup artist to her traveling entourage, according to stylists who have worked with presidential wives over the past 16 years.

Makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, helped create Obama's signature look on her inaugural trip to Europe last week.

Grimes-Miles, who has been working with the first lady for six years, now splits her time between DC and Chicago, where she dolls up morning-news anchors for WGN TV.

"No other first ladies have consistently traveled with a makeup artist," said hairdresser Bernard Portelli, who styled Hillary Rodham Clinton's blond mane in 1993 and tracks trends in first-lady style.

"It took Laura Bush four years to finally look good. It's taken Michelle Obama two months. She wears fake eyelashes that are beautiful. She can't do those herself."

Style watchers suspect that Grimes-Miles is behind Obama's most prominent beauty reinvention: Her eyebrows. After the first lady drew criticism for looking angry, her high-arched eyebrows were reshaped with a softer arc that gave her a friendlier appearance.

Grimes-Miles has described Obama's makeup as "not an avant-garde look . . . We want her to [look] very natural and polished."

Last week, Grimes-Miles joined "First Hairstylist" Johnny Wright, 31, aboard Air Force One as official guests of the president, during their six-day trip across Europe.

The Obamas privately paid for the travel expenses of the styling team, according to a spokeswoman for the first lady. But the high-profile jobs don't pay much, say former White House stylists.

"You do it because you know you will have some prestige and you will be able to make money later," Portelli said.

Wright, a former LA-based stylist for Frederic Fekkai, relocated to the capital for his position in January. But he wasn't the first lady's first choice.

Michael "Rahni" Flowers, 54, who has tamed Mrs. Obama's locks since she was 18, said he couldn't relocate from Chicago. "I thought it was better to help train someone to manage her in DC," Flowers told The Post.

  1. The American taxpayer is ultimately picking up the tab. No wonder there are country wide tax protests on Wednesday!!!

  2. First of all if you like Dominos than you have absolutley no business criticizing anything about pizza! Dominos is not pizza, calling it that is blasphemy!

Second, I could be wrong but from the story I heard the pizza guy is flying himself and doing it for free. The advertising payoff of something like this is huge and so the up front costs to the pizza maker will be nothing to the returns he will make on this kind of investment.

The same can be said about the makeup artist. If the Obama's are paying for her than it shouldn't even matter what the cost is in anycase. Michelle Obama is under a lot more scutiny than any other previous first lady (and they all get put through the wringer for the way they look). IF this is something they deem important enough to pay for then whatever.

Lastely this is really just about finding any stupid thing you can to criticize. You don't like him, fine, whatever. There are legitamite policy disagreements to be amde for a dislike of him, but when you pick out crap like what kind of pizza he likes to eat and how they like to spend their private money than it minimizes any arguement you make about him in general.

  3. It used to be that US Presidents had more class than this.

And Obama was supposed to change "business as usual" in Washington.

But we already know he lied about everything else, nothing to see here move along folks.

  4. More class than what? Liking pizza?

  5. Traitors are always well paid. He is one of the best actors and speakers the Oligarchs have ever had. Give the man any pizza he wants.

  6. why does this not surprise me? and I voted for this jerk!

going back to Chicago for a vacation every 6 weeks? heck even Bush wasn't this bad..

    coctails every wendsday... why not?

gotta love the "let them eat cake" by these 2 arrogant jerks!

they are making the Bushes look good, and that's saying something!

  7. "More class than what? Liking pizza?"

please, don't act like this is just about liking pizza. It's about taking the time and money to do this -- and throwing lavish parties in the white house every week, and all the other excesses - while he claimed all along that he was going to change the country. The point is what he and his wife have been doing and saying is contradictory to the story we were told up until November of last year.
    Wake up.

  8. You mean he hasn't pulled the troops out of the Iraqi occupation? Stopped the ridiculous lies that keep the WOT going in Afghanistan? Still spying on Americans and rewarding companies (with immunity) for going along? I don't believe you. Oh well, at least he fixed the economy. He is on our side - the people - and not a Wall St minion. Real estate and jobs will be booming again soon! All is good. Go B.O.!! My hero. My savior. NOT a puppet.

  9. I sympathize with the original poster, because: all of these critiques the other posters bring up are far more valid and relevant than these excesses. We already know that virtually every president is a corrupt money grubbing stooge. Let's not act so so surprised by food choices and the bill at the party.

  10. Well said, but we are PESSIMIST PORN nuts here. Used to be that Heidi Klum turned me on. Not anymore. Now it is talk of hyperinflation and martial law. Peter Schiff, Gerald Celente, and some hand lotion LOL. P-porn!!! Geez. Now the media idiot liars bash you for wanting to be ready for the collapse.

  12. Doomer pr0n!

That's ok though, there is every reason to be pessimistic. It isn't the least bit baseless. If you're going to be doomer/pessimist about something, at least the economy is a valid reason.

  13. I'm sorry BUT, the Obama's are setting a very poor example. Asking every American to make do and be fiscally responsible!!!!! Think about it, does YOUR wife have a personal stylist? Do you have a personal chef flown in? It is a HUGE double standard and it all starts with Pelosi.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Being fiscally responsible means living within your resources. If they have the resources to afford this than they are being responsible. If they do not have the resources than they are not being responsible. Fiscal responsiblity does not mean sitting on your money and never spending it, it means spending what you can afford.

  15. where do you think they get their money from? Burger King, donations? NO! The TAX PAYER PAYS their salary you dumb hicks!

    ReplyDelete
  16. No, they did not get their millions from the tax payors (which the President only makes what $250,00 which you all think is not rich?). They got all that cash from the sale of his books. They both had careers before politics as well.

I find it amusing that so many in other posts here defend the rich to make their money, spend it how they like, employ people, etc...but Obama is not allowed to be rich and spend his own money the way he wishes.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Dont forget all the lobbyists and bankers he is so friendly with.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Go for it Obama cause the Jack ass before him spent money like a drunk sailor and did not care about us Americans. Face it Republicans you lost your ass big time and this nit picking is useless attempt to make yourselves relevant which only makes you like like bigger loser ass clowns...

  19. Hey Hillbilly above:
OBAMA will have spent more than all the 43 previous presidents. By 2012 he is estimated to have spent about over 10 trillion dollars. He's already spent 3 trillion in his first 2 months in office. So i'm guessing he will spend more trillions than that by 2012 at the rate things are going.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hey Moron above, the article is NOT about what his administration is spending....something that would be a legitamate argument. The article is about how they spend their own personal money. That is why you all look like a bunch of partisan idiots who have no real ideas or thoughts of your owns. It's also the reason why your comments can not be taken seriously. You obviously have no ablity to make any rational judgements!

    ReplyDelete
  21. IT IS NOT THEIR MONEY! Get it? It is our money as taxpayers and it could be better spent on people that are starving or without health care, or education!! Sound familiar? Is this not his platform?

    ReplyDelete
  22. IT IS THEIR MONEY. He did not make millions being a senator, or even being President. Get that? Why is it so hard for you to understand that 1) they made money that has nothing to do with any government position or salary payment from the government. 2) even the salary they make in a government position is their money to do with how they wish. These purchases were not made out of some White House fund, they were made from their own personal money. Their salaries are their money. Government employees are not subjected to having their purchases reviewed and approved by you.
What kind of sick twisted bastard are you that you think that public employees should have to spend their salaries the way you deem fit, or do you believe that public employees should have to work for free. Sorry policeman, sorry fireman, no money for you, or you should have to submit an inventory of your personal expenses for approval.

  23. Let me remind you retarded people above:
OBAMA will have spent more than all the 43 previous presidents. By 2012 he is estimated to have spent about over 10 trillion dollars. He's already spent 3 trillion in his first 2 months in officeAre you people that stupid above?

  24. Two weeks ago, reports had Barack Obama leaning towards bankruptcy for GM as a solution to their problem — after soaking taxpayers for $14 billion just a few months earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Obama has spent no more than James Madison in his time.

    ReplyDelete
  26. You are all such brained washed idiots. If you really can't see that there are distinctions between an administrations budget and a personal budget.

This story did not mention anything about the administrations budget. The whole thing was about two items the Obama family spent their personal money on.

So you people who brought up the deficit, while that is a very legitamite issue, and something I most likely agree with you on, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS PARTICULAR STORY!

That is why you are the stupid ones....because you are so filled with brain washed loathing that you can not suspend your blind hatred to just admit that this is a non story and has nothing to do with the economy or taxes.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wow ! name calling and changed the subject to boot!Cannot admit Obama is destroying this once great nation. How is your money situation since the great on was elected??Sheesh!

    ReplyDelete
  28. He may be destroying it but not because he's buying pizza. People who are brining up his destroying the country are the ones who changed the subject. The subject was never about the country.

And actually my money situation is a lot better since he was elected, although it has nothing to do with him. My financial situation tanked last year when I lost my job. I learned to live an extremely enjoyable life with a lot less crap in the way to mess it up. Having less can really clear the mind as to what is truly important. We manage to pay off almost all of our debt, I've learned that making pizza (ha, ha, ha) with the kids is a lot more fun and a lot cheaper than ordering, I've learned that even a family that is eligible for food stamps but has choosen not to recieve them can have healthy meals and afford to create a 6 month stock of food in the pantry, I've learned that nothing says I love you more than a homemade dolls and hand sewn blankets on Christmas morning, and I have learned that people make way too big of deal about money and if they just learned to love the things they already have that this whole financial mess would be over already.

So, I have less money but I have learned that it is more than enough.

    ReplyDelete
  31. yes, because there are only two options in life. To agree with every single thing about Obama or disagree with everything about Obama. Nothing in between, no ablity to think for one's self, for rational thought...

The only people I ever see lifting Obama to the stature of "King" or "savior" are those who are ademently against him. It's almost as if you are trying to convince everyone else to believe the same. Why is that?
