FOOD CRISIS: MANY will Starve WORLDWIDE

As of July 15th Bulgarian farmers had harvested around 30% of the nation's wheat crop, with yields averaging 3.2 MT/hectare, according to the Agriculture Ministry.

They've trimmed their final wheat production estimate from 3.6-3.7 MMT to 3.5-3.6 MMT, around 20% lower than last season's output.

Argentine Wheat Plantings Revised Lower Again
Argentine farmers will plant just 2.6 million hectares of winter wheat for the 2009/10 season, according to Oil World. That's 200,000 hectares down on their last estimate and a stunning 2.1 million less than was planted in 2008/09.

Last season's drought-ravaged crop only managed to yield 2 MT/hectare, and subsoil moisture levels have been depleted even further since then.

Of course it's not all about drought, part of the reason behind lower plantings is a two fingered salute to the government and their export restrictions.

  2. In Texas and Oklahoma the drought and late freezes damaged the winter wheat crop. Farmers had two choices, either disk it under,or cut and bale the wheat straw for filler for the cattle. Most chose the latter to save on some feed bills.

The ground in Oklahoma is now starting to crack 1/2 inch wide, rain has been sparse and intermittent, yes I realize this is summer, and it is dry during this time, but there was hardly any fall rains back in the fall of 2008, for the 2009 winter wheat crop. Subsoil is starting to be depleted, and the ponds are once again starting to dry up. If you have the means, at least buy what you and your family eat and put it away in storage.

  4. Why anyone would be against storing up at least a limited supply of spare food is beyond me. People buy insurance for every contingency that would only effect their lives in a minor way.

With any national emergency you could be left without access to food. Why would you even consider having only 4-5 days worth of food on hand? That is just absolutely insane. But that is all the food 99% of people have on hand.

Grow a brain and store up some food. There is no downside at all. You rotate through it, eat it, anyway.

  5. Fear mongering.
In the US, India, Eastern Europe and Northern Africa the wheat forecasts are better than expected.
In Russia and Argentina they are worse than forecasted earlier.
You can never predict the weather....

  6. So it ok with you that farmers are suffering financially while the rats in the White House give billions/trillions to corrupt bankers?

If my future is screwed I'd rather have the Treasury looted for good causes! A new tractor, not a yacht :).

How is showing that Congress is fabricating some horseshit over a 2" worthless fish fearmongering?

Screw that fish! The best way to fight the financial elite scumbags is to circumvent their one major tool they use against us time and time again - scarcity.

Food is not scarce right now, but that is not what they want. They want it very scarce and what they want is usually what they get.
