Japans Largest Airline Bankrupt
Jan. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Japan Airlines Corp.’s largest banks are set to agree to a bankruptcy of Asia’s largest carrier, said four people familiar with the matter.
Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc., Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc. and Mizuho Financial Group Inc. are prepared to go along with a proposed court-led reconstruction, said three people who declined to be identified because the matter is private. The state-owned Development Bank of Japan already agreed to the bankruptcy, according to the other person.
Japan Air is seeking new investors and loan write-offs as it restructures after posting three losses in four years. The government will hold talks on JAL’s future as soon as Jan. 12, Transport Minister Seiji Maehara told reporters two days ago in Tokyo after meeting with Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama.

Too bad Japan isn't the reserve currency and can't get the printing presses going like the U.S. Japan is in horrible shape and has been so for 20 years. Yet the pundits continue to understate how bad things have been. Index from 38,000 to 10,000 with a production economy. Yet noone can see the Dow eventually going to 4,000. Printing press or not.
ReplyDeleteJapan has been in trouble since 1989. Who would have thought that the Japan index would remain at 10,000 for so many years. The U.S. will not be able to get its head out of the sand. We are doom. In one respect, the citizens of Japan was much better prepared for the down turn. We ugly americans will not have that luxury. We wil be jumping out of window. SPOIL BRATS
ReplyDeleteAirline in trouble ?????
ReplyDeleteWell; imagine that !!!!!
Sorry I have to do this.
ReplyDeleteThere is no such word as "noone" it's "no one". When I see a simple mistake like this, it's no wonder the USS United States of America is sinking fast, with no helpon the way.
The NIKKEI has remained low for twenty years because the Japanese society is too honorable to manipulate the markets, like in the U.S. The around-the-clock war room of computer programed manipulation will NEVER allow the DOW to remain low for long. These desperate attempts are further evidence of how bad conditions are in America!
ReplyDelete7:54, then maybe you need help with spelling "help on" since it appears you don't know how to spell that correctly either.
ReplyDeleteI remember is thusly: noone is better than Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits.
