There Was No Net Job Creation Since 1999

Staggering numbers of Americans are still unemployed and nearly a quarter of all homeowners owe more on their mortgages than their homes are worth. Forget the false hope of modestly improving monthly job numbers. The real story right now is the entrenched suffering (with no end in sight) that has been inflicted on scores of millions of working Americans by the Great Recession and the misguided economic policies that preceded it.

As The Washington Post reported over the weekend, the entire past decade “was the worst for the U.S. economy in modern times.” There was no net job creation — none — between December 1999 and now. None!

The Post article read like a lament, a longing for the U.S. as we’d once known it: “No previous decade going back to the 1940s had job growth of less than 20 percent.”

Middle-class families in 2008 actually earned less, adjusted for inflation, than they did in 1999. The data for 2009 are not yet in, but you can just imagine what happened to those families in that nightmarish downturn. Small children over the holidays were asking Santa Claus to bring mommy or daddy a job.

  2. I agree 9:40;

Just wait until the realization kicks in that the "service industry" is dead too...who's there to "service" when so many of us are underemployed/unemployed!?

  3. The US economy is like a giant elephant. Hard to bring down. But the banker parasites are doing just that, slowly but surely.

  4. I would give half my savings to time travel to the future to 2014 just for 15 minutes then come back. What would I see? The same old crap or empty cities full of trash? An occupying foreign army? A communist slave state? The NAU? I think the USA will change more in the next 4-5 years than in the last 50. No, not because of 2012, but just all the things that are happening that is being suppressed.

Our empire is lashing out into very dangerous territory. We've never invaded and bombed countries with nukes before (Pakistan). Typically before an Empire fails in lashes out in all directions.

Fun times. Just wish I could get a sneak peak. Whatever the elite have planned to us it should be an interesting ride.

  9. Vote out the incumbents???
    You cannot be serious !!!!
Do you Already forget your living in a country that just voted IN a 48 yr. old Junior Senator
with practicaly no experience at anything ?? The dude was a friggin' community organizer -- barrack HUSSEIN obama; oh - he's achangin' things alright. How can the people of this country make such a blatant mistake ?? The rest of what you say I'm 2 years ahead of you on & I tell anybody who'll listen what's coming down the pike - but I'm to the point where I figure if people are that damn stupid -- let THEM pay for it; I'm prepared they ain't. If Teddy Kennedy hadn't died that SOB would've gotten re-elected on his 107th friggin' birthday !! How 'bout Arlen Spector that sonofabitch knew he couldn't win re-election so he switched parties!!
Dodd, Byrd, Rockefeller,Feinstein, Stanford on and on and on and on - They Lie they cheat they steal they have gang bangs on our dollar & they get re-elected - SADD

  10. 3:11 Ditto
Patriots like Ron Paul and Pat Buchannon who are real Americans with Americas best interest at heart -- shit man; they don't even make it out of the blocks.
I still vote - but not for long; I think the next important vote in this country will take place on a skirmish line because we have 75% of the population that's constantly voting for good hair, race, religion, sex etc. etc. etc. instead of for people who have good credentials and good backgrounds - heck we now have presidents with no prior experince at anything; Vice Presidents
that are worse yet - Sec. of Treas, that are tax cheats yada yada yada - it gets old man real OLD

Yes it's time for change. I've been out of a job for nearly 2 years. So if the "real" percentage of unemployed is 20% or greater, that still means 4 out of 5 people still have jobs to go to.

I have a neighbor who knows I'm out of work. She still has a job and we spoke for a few moments this morning, before she went off to work. She repeated all the usual crap about the Mon-Fri scourge called a job. I even got a new one for Fridays..."Poets" Piss On Everything cus Tomorrow is Saturday".

As long as the remaining 80% still have a job to go to, they'll have no time to deal with important stuff, like the coming collapse of the country. They will not react till they have been hurt bad. As long as they have American Idol, America's Got Talent, Desperate Housewives and the lot, they'll be happy. As for me:

    - My TV is almost never turned on.

    - I have plenty of skills that go back to my young adulthood when we as a country used to "make things".

    - Today I took a 4-stroke weed whacker and removed the shaft. I attached a surplus DC generator to the engine. Now I have a very portable power supply to back up my solar and wind systems.

    - My next project is to power that 4-stroke engine with "HHO". I have a small scale system outside in prototype stage. My solar system is generating hydrogen and oxygen gas from filtered water (from my 5-stage filter and water softener) with a small amount of vinegar in the mix. I know I can power the 4-stroke engine, if I can store and compress enough of it.

    - Go to your library and check out "The Square Foot Gardener" this guy really knows his stuff.

    - I have a small hydroponic garden in my dinning room. I want to build a bigger one and power it by solar and wind. Some hydroponic gardens have 1,000+ watt grow lights. That won't fly with solar.

As for the incumbents, I see little chance of any real change. We say we'll vote them out, but they always manage to get re-elected. I'm in California, when a politician screws up, John and Ken of KFI radio make it known to their million+ listeners. The listeners will blow up the offenders phone system with non-stop calling or emails or whatever. There was one crazy California politician that made a comment that we will all have to look for more money (in the context of the Budget Crisis) even if it meant looking under the sofa cushions. She got buried in the "sofa cushion stuff" that frustrated Californians sent her.

It's gonna be a very interesting year...

  12. yes vote out incumbents, you want to leave the crooked f##cks in office? whats your solution? and by the way i saw this coming 5 years ago and started my prep then, so good for you and spread the word......

  13. Some of you folks on this board are idiots. I don't know any other way to say it. You are idiots because you are stuck in the left/right, liberal/conservative paradigm.

You would have to be brain dead and NOT THINKING OBJECTIVELY FOR YOURSELF in order to take the side of either political party. If you OBJECTIVELY analayzed our problems, you would conclude that both parties are raping Americans and leading our nation towards collapse.

  14. 9:40 and others sooo nailed it. Manufacturing and innovation creates wealth. I'll go you one further--it's my belief that America peaked in 1969 and that we've been running on fumes since then.

  15. 4:19 Yeah man I hear you - but we currently have a 2 ( ok maybe 3 but It'll be a cold day ....)
party system. The points they above are trying to get across is that we HAVE had in the past candidates whom were VERY qualified Rep. Dem. Lib. whatever but somehow ????? these qualified people NEVER seem to get the votes -- how is that??????? And you cannot blame these Forbes, Paul, Buchannon for saying ok - they obviously don't want me -- goodbye. instead we are where you are ( in the raping gig ) can ANYBODY out there tell me they can see Ron Paul selling us down the river -- HELL NO I SAY -- But GA DAMN IT people we won't elect the man !! PISSES ME RIGHT OFF. Look him up - study his voting record
etc. etc. etc. No No - we'd rather elect some dumb assed politician that likes to stick expensive cigars up ----. WTF I give up.

  16. Voting is useless and is for suckers.

Congress is owned by the banks.

    Our government is entirely corrupt.

    There is no hope.

Yes, the right/left thing is not worthy of even commenting on.

Stop worry about corruption, voting, etc. The war has already been lost, they won. The zionist banksters have us by the balls.

Think less about all the above and get selfish. Think about your own personal survival only.

  17. The biggest fear I have about that scenario??
If "they" have ALL the "LAWS" on "THEIR" side
trust me - you cannot survive at ANY level.
please trust me on that - you cannot!
