Thousands Protest Economic Collapse in Russia

MOSCOW - Russian police broke up an opposition demonstration in Moscow on Saturday, one of around 50 rallies across the country with thousands protesting falling living standards under Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
A coalition of opposition groups declared a national "Day of Anger" with nationwide rallies tapping into anger which has been rising since the economic crisis hit. The protests mixed local issues with anger at the federal government.
Opposition groups have been heartened by unusually large rallies in recent months. But riven by division they were unable to match the 10,000 people who gathered for a January rally in the western city of Kaliningrad, one of the largest in a decade.
"The mood has changed, but it has not yet turned into a movement," said Masha Lipman, an analyst with the Carnegie Moscow Centre think-tank. But for the micro-managers in the Kremlin "the stakes are extremely high," she said.
At least 1,500 people turned out in the Pacific port of Vladivostok, raising their hands to support a motion to dismiss Putin’s government. Around 1,000 rallied in Saint Petersburg and hundreds gathered in several other cities.
"People have no work and they are fed up," said Ivan Fotodtov, 26, a Vladivostok web designer who braved snow to protest rising bills cutting into his stagnant wages.

  6. The Soviet Union rapidly developed industrially and economically under Stalinist economics
Kruschov and Brezhnev as declared “ anti-Stalinists” put the profit motive back into control with promises of more consumer goods for the people .They called it state “market socialism” . But If you run things on the profit motive that is capitalism, whether you call it socialism or not . Just as capitalist China is now run by “communists” who depend on selling cheap labour exports and call it “Socialism” But the market system did not deliver in the USSR and the internal economy was sluggish. The Soviet Union began to import foreign investments of capital and flogged off national bonds to the West.
In the end the Soviet Union was run down ,and bankrupted by living on too much borrowed foreign credit and then couldn’t make its interest payments. Its assets were then privatised and flogged off at bargain basement prices by the Yeltsin traitor to the oligarch representatives of international capital Billionaires arose overnight .And the economy collapsed in a heap . The situation appears to be very similar to indebted America today as the U.S . treasury is being looted with trillion dollar handouts to the rich. Bush 2 and Obama are American Yeltsins .

When the USSR economy imploded , the value of state pensions even military pensions collapsed, but people survived much better than Americans will in a depression .
The Russians had cheap rent and no mortgage payments , many still kept their jobs at the remaining state owned industries even keeping production going without pay for months ,the cities had good cheap public transport and above all lots of backyard vegetable patches and family and social connections to get food from the peasantry in the country side .Unemployed Americans with their private car transport system dependencies also lack those social connections and in a sudden depression will get hungry fast as supermarket shelves are stripped bare . The country needs to be industrially rebuilt after Globalism .

Will an American Stalin or a corporate state
    Fuhrer arise?
