WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Gallup Daily tracking finds that 20.3% of the U.S. workforce was underemployed in March -- a slight uptick from the relatively flat January and February numbers.
"The underemployed in March became neither more nor less hopeful about finding work soon."
These results are based on March interviews with more than 20,000 adults in the U.S. workforce, aged 18 and older. Gallup classifies respondents as underemployed if they are unemployed or working part-time but wanting full-time work. Gallup employment data are not seasonally adjusted.
A rise in the percentage of part-timers wanting to work full time (from 9.2% to 9.9%) is responsible for the March increase in underemployment. Unemployment saw a slight, but insignificant, decline in March.

Read any of the economist on the internet, they have all concluded the unemployment rate is above 20% and has been for several years, and its going UP, NOT down.

I think ShadowStats, which incorporates the unemployed a year and havent looked in a couple of weeks that they dropped back in 1994 off the U6 number, says it is 21.7%...

ReplyDeleteUnemployed since January, the first time in 30 years. My 98k/year job went poof. Now I'm 55 years old over qualified engineer and no longer "economically viable." Over 500 resumes sent out, working with head hunters, nothing, nada, zilch.

I talked to a new business owner that just opened up a pizza joint in my local neighborhood. I asked him how many full time jobs his business will create? He said "one". How many part time jobs will he offer? He said "three". Next I asked so when you advertised, how many people sent resumes and applied for these jobs? He said "about 160".
