Republicans are telling Americans a Big Lie, and Obama and the Democrats are letting them. The Big Lie is our economic problems are due to a government that’s too large, and therefore the solution is to shrink it.
The truth is our economic problems stem from the biggest concentration of income and wealth at the top since 1928, combined with stagnant incomes for most of the rest of us.
The result: Americans no longer have the purchasing power to keep the economy going at full capacity. Since the debt bubble burst, most Americans have had to reduce their spending; they need to repay their debts, can’t borrow as before, and must save for retirement.

George Orwell once explained that when a public is stressed and confused, a Big Lie told repeatedly can become the accepted truth. Adolph Hitler wrote in Mein Kampf that “the size of the lie is a definite factor in causing it to be believed” and that members of the public are “more easily prey to a big lie than a small one, for they themselves often tell little lies but would be ashamed to tell big ones.”

The Spin Is In...
ReplyDeleteThe government IS too big, and we have all stretched ourselves beyond our means. The forced downsize is upon us.
ReplyDeletethere are many factors that have caused our economic issues, but it is no lie that government is too big. The government is the business of thep oliticians, so when they say this, is reflects their view. If government got out of the way, many of the other issues might resolve themselves or at least be able to start getting fixed.
ReplyDeleteThe Republicans are the problem. They started the lie with the Reagan tas cuts that started the big deficits. Reagan was the first to rob social security to make it look like the tax cuts were not that bad. I wonder how the world would have been if Reagan had no given stinger missles to the Taliban that ran the Russians out of Afghanastan? No 911 would have been nice. Name one thing the Republicans have done to help the middle class? Who outsourced jobs to China and India? Not the horrible unions.
ReplyDeleteBe very careful about where you save your money. Five European countries just seized private retirement accounts for their general funds and I'm sure there are people in the US thinking overtime on how to get their hands on this money.
ReplyDelete1:00AM here yes I agree, the Republicans are the worst, and the Democrats are almost as bad because they give us false up masked over lies and corruption, because, boiled down, it is all lies and corruption.
ReplyDeleteFalse Hope
ReplyDeleteyeah they've talked here in the US of a government guaranteed fund in which they TAKE all ira's and place them...under gov protection
