These brave women and men already work in the city of Detroit — and now, Mayor Dave Bing wants police officers to live in the city as well.
Bing has been vocal about his desire to get police officers to move back into the city, and now he’s taking action by announcing a new incentive plan to get them to live where they work.
Currently, 53 percent of Detroit Police officers commute to work from the suburbs, and Bing says the number is even higher for firefighters.
As part of a pilot program called “Project 14″ Detroit cops and firefighters who live in the suburbs will be offered renovated homes in the city for as little as $1,000.
Mayor Bing said this is one step in a plan to revitalize Detroit.
“Project 14 is one approach that my administration is deploying to take two challenges facing Detroit — public safety and vacant homes — and turn them into an opportunity for neighborhood revitalization,” Mayor Bing said.
“There are steps that we can and must take today to improve the quality of life for our citizens. That’s why I am announcing Project 14 — an initiative designed to encourage Detroit Police officers to live in the communities in which they serve,” Bing said.

Expect Massive Buying Of Gold From China
Detroit should be bulldozed. Just put it out of it's misery. There will be no revitalization. Your city is doomed. Sorry, Mr. Mayor.
ReplyDelete856 Your words ring so TRUE! Let it go so we can start the "RESET"! That goes for the Mini-Detroit south...Toledo and Detroit East-DC!
ReplyDeleteThey're part of the reason. Anytime you pay city employees enough money that they have better living arrangements than the general public and can live apart from them you have corruption and an unsustainable economic system.
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly what happens in communist countries. The government officials all have it better than everyone else. Everyone else is just screwed over.
I don't even understand why there isn't a residency requirement. In other cities, like NYC, you have to live IN the city to hold a city job. You can't just live in a suburb. Not that you can drive into NYC anyway, I guess in Detroit you can though.
For canadians its perhaps bigger than NAFTA and an introduction to US Patriot act rules and to joint security in the war against Terrorism.
ReplyDeleteCanada loses contol of its own US Borders for borderless security Under US control
New Harper/Obama Border Deal about
Corporate Power - Not Security and Trade
by Jack Etkin
The agreeement signed in Washington on Friday February 4 will put a new border - A Security Perimeter -
AROUND Canada and the United States. And it will begin the work of REMOVING the border between us in order
to give Big Business more control of Canada's resources and people.
This is being done without the involvement of our Parliament, or the people of Canada or the United States. It is
an undemocratic betrayal of all of us.
The Corporations behind this deal own the politicians who signed it, and the media that are telling us 'how good it
is'.
'This is the kind of government action that we in the business community have been seeking for years'.

Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuhrer
English translation:
One people, one empire, one leader!
And who will be the Untermenschen ?
If The USA does not make the same Empire border deal with its other partner in NAFTA ,Mexico won’t that be considered discriminatory ?
ReplyDelete... women and men huh? Isn't that backwards since the occupation of police is still male dominated? That would be like describing in random conversation with another person about construction workers and describing the general construction worker as a her or a she. Doesn't work, women barely do construction.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay to be realistic you know. The women in the police depts won't be offended if you put men first. Most women cops don't equal their male partners and it doesn't upset them in anyway.
Rambling aside, I agree with the first few posters in regard to Detroit. I also wanted to add however, that in the bigger picture our problems are being heightened because people can't leave things alone.
Really people, we are losing our grip with reality and losing our minds and souls. We need to stop fucking with things and just let everything be. This engine can't handle the amount of energy being thrown in it.
Children now should take lessons here. How the armageddon about to hit is caused by people compulsively tampering with the system and trying to squeeze the collective. Not the just the politicians but also the thousands of various groups and organizations have pushed their weight onto everything. Nobody can even breathe anymore.
$1,000 houses for policemen. Is this SS socialism for a corporate state?
ReplyDeleteThis is even cheaper than other reports of house price bargains in Detroit heaven!
I don’t understand all these foreclosure reports in America .
American Housing is comparatively cheap.Compared to some other countries LIKE AUSTRALIA .
And housing prices are still even falling in the good old USA
The Australian dollar is at parity with the US dollar A$1=US$ 1
You can buy a BIG 5 bedroom luxury mansion in Atlanta , America , for just $1,100,000
See it here in all its landscaped glory.

Compare that great price to what a million bucks will get you in Australia .
A small 2 bedroom inner city house in Albert Park Australia.

Because house prices have been so high in Australia for so long, we start to see them as “normal” and assume they are here to stay. Now, I know you can’t draw too conclusions by comparing two completely different cities. But this comparison might at least make us question whether our house prices are in fact normal.
What do you think? Are Australian house prices justified?
Might there be a property bubble in Australia?
But prices still always go up in Australia so nobody worries!

ReplyDeleteThats in America today ,In Thailand China and other Third World countries women construction worlers are very common.
As America turns Third World we may yet see the same thing happening in America?
Women barely work period, but the depression has mostly targeted men. I hear so many gleeful female economists and attorneys mentioning this unable to hide their happiness.
ReplyDeleteStep 1 of any recovery would be taking away most of these women's jobs.
Chinese and any major country that holes U.S. Treasury are naturally buying gold and silver for obvious reason; America is exporting inflation to the rest of the world.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the "White Hat Report" (reporting what the mainstream doesn't link). Excellent and filled with interesting details and continuing information on ogoing subjects that everyone should be made aware of.. This is why I cringe when the MSN mentions Romney as a presidential candidate!
ReplyDeletedetroit can no longer afford to supply services to outlying area's, garbage collection, sewer and water with it's maintenance, roads and patrols themselves..isn't it to make a core city? as UN agenda
ReplyDeleteIt would be necessary to put all the policemen
ReplyDeletein the same houses along certain blocks of
neighborhoods, so that they would be able to
watch each other's backs. I'm not sure even
cops have the balls to live in Detroit
neighborhoods.
