March 11: Day Of Rage

Poverty and joblessness are prompting protest in the kingdom, writes FINIAN CUNNINGHAM in Manama

THE POPULAR uprisings across the Middle East are sparking similar unrest in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with youth groups and workers in that country now calling for a “day of rage” demonstration in the capital, Riyadh, on March 11th.

Already there have been protests in the city of Qatif and other towns in the country’s oil-rich Eastern Province demanding, among other things, the release of political prisoners and a raft of social reforms. There are also reports of prominent Shia clerics being detained by the Saudi Sunni authorities, and security forces mobilising in anticipation of further protests.

Sadek al-Ramadan, a human rights activist in al-Asha, Eastern Province, said: “People here are watching closely the protest movements across the region, which are tapping into long-held demands for reforms in Saudi Arabia.” Al-Ramadan said that there are “deep frustrations” in Saudi society over high levels of poverty, unemployment, poor housing and perceived widespread corruption among the rulers of the world’s top oil exporter whose gross domestic product last year is estimated at $622 billion.

  2. I'm so happy that the Unions are helping spread global anarchy.

I remember the picture of the South Africans in red shirts being violent over the capitalist system. Demanding jobs, equal pay, and the wealth of the rich.

What fucking jobs do people think are there to begin with!? Nobody will fucking work if we all get paid the same! Okay it's very simple people. Technology has two major backfires - 1) It dims the consciousness and spirit. 2) Machines with more efficiency bring a decrease in the need for human labor.

I know, then the only solution is to get rid of all jobs so that in order to be equal, we all have to be zeros.

Wisconsin... what a shame. I hope those brain dead, bum students and the crap ass, greedy, tenured teachers are proud of themselves.

At least their useful idiots know how to read. Unlike those rioting in the middle east and Africa. Those people should be abashed for manipulating illiterate people. Hell, I don't think anybody is ashamed of anything anymore.

So fuck it. Let's join some kind of group so we can fit in with the rest of the dumbed down human population.

Which to join? The KKK? Code Pink? SDS? The Army? Race for the Cure? Al Qaeda? The Ashtar Command Crew? Too many options!

  4. Ah, a satisfied capitalism person, that believes that the debt system is forever , the best system of distributing the wealth created by humanity, because it accords with his own idea of eternal greedy human nature and “human rights”.

Including the” human rights” of US capital and its corporate” persons” to create wars ,unemployment and a society of debt peons obligated to pay off the past losses of capital and their debts to capital.
Capital n that claims a superior right and a title share over future wealth creation for "hard working “capital forever.

Most of the debts of government treasury bills and other deficit financed spending” National debts” and the private debts , including Mortgages, credit card and student debts, have been created ‘out of fresh air” under a fraudulent fractional reserve banking, fiat paper money system.

Under the dollar Hegemony Ponzi debt System, Americans after having most of their productive industry and jobs exported, could only maintain their old or expected standard of living by going into debt.
As long as the credit lasted.
But they still ,sadly have a human sense of an equal right entitlement to work for a living.

    Just so!
America is starting to resemble and have the same problems as Third world South Africa.

After years of struggle to gain basic and equal human rights in law and equal access to making a living by using the natural resources of South Africa without exploitation by a small minority with capital .

The South Africans got “change” a vote But, where indeed are their fucking jobs?
The old system is still in place!

That Hero of the west Mandela partnering with the owners of wealth dominating that economy
ensured that any basic economic change did not occur ,but they did get a human right to a vote!
The Hero Forget that liberation has a material wealth component.

As you say the way capital structures the economy’

"What fucking jobs do people think are there to begin with!?”

But, actually it is what fucking jobs are there at the end?

With a falling rate of profit for invested capital?

Because again as you say blaming “technology”

“Machines with more efficiency bring a decrease in the need for human labor.”

But the machines, factories etc are nothing more than invested past labor socially created value, profits re- invested as capital ,that claims a title over future wealth creation for its owners.
Investments that cannot now find a market for their goods ,or mortgage sales, because the now under- employed may have human needs, but without more ponzi credit supply have no effective cash in hand demand.

Some get by on government handouts.

From capitals point of view and its demand for even more profits as driver of the system ,the people are indeed becoming of zero worth. Useless or overpaid mouths overpopulating American capitalism.

Now, in a high waged physically unproductive of real profits American economy ,that was running on foreign supplied credit ,a now insolvent Ponzi debt system ,people find find that free trade capital has exported their industry and jobs to the third world .
But all you see in your class view is the rights of capital for bailouts, not for working people to decent a job.

    Indeed .
    Where are the fucking jobs?

All they see in the future is a boot on their face, with ‘equal rights” to “Austerity” and debt peonage.
