More Unrest? Rhode Island Fires All Teachers

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The school district plans to send out dismissal notices to every one of its 1,926 teachers, an unprecedented move that has union leaders up in arms.
In a letter sent out to all teachers Tuesday, Supt. Tom Brady wrote that on Thursday the Providence School Board will vote on a resolution to dismiss every teacher, effective the last day of school.
In an e-mail sent to all teachers and School Department staff, Brady said, "We are forced to take this precautionary action by the March 1 deadline given the dire budget outline for the 2011-2012 school year in which we are projecting a near $40 million deficit for the district," Brady wrote. "Since the full extent of the potential cuts to the school budget have yet to be determined, issuing a dismissal letter to all teachers was necessary to give the mayor, the School Board and the district maximum flexibility to consider every cost savings option, including reductions in staff."

  1. Getting rid of all the trashy public school teachers is 100% beneficial to us. Here's the reasons why:

    1) Kids will get a better education if schooled at home or perhaps a Charter School. Though there won't be enough Charter Schools to enroll every lucky student no longer forced to go to public schools, the homeschooling would still be better.

    2) Kids will be safer and will learn better social skills and manners. The Progressives like to make parents think otherwise - that school builds social skills. This is clearly false. All one has to do is go to a high school and observe how incompetent the teenagers are when it comes to communication.

An extended argument here is how this trick goes back 150 years during the early design of our school systems. They wanted to emphasize conditioning a herd behavior while deliberately giving kids a third rate education. Humans are warm blooded mammals, are naturally compassionate and sensitive, but become emotionally crippled by the human establishments.

Everybody left alone will develop their own unique way of interacting with people. When forced into specific modes and ranges of socializing as shown by those whose consciousness and hearts have become crystalized - then that new generation will lose their individuality and become automatons as well as fearful of others. Fear creates clinging, and this is how you can make one thousand people act pretty much the same way.

Take this final example. Look at people who are generally in large groups of people. Take the folks in New York City. The majority do not learn how to communicate better or deal with people more. If anything they have a good chance of losing their ability to get along with anyone. Somewhere else where there are fewer people, small towns, the people are always going to end up being nicer and warmer (in a higher ratio) than those in busy cities.

On Celebrity Rehab, I noticed how these celebrities are always in huge crowds at parties. But their communion with others is FAKE. They all act in these clubs and such. Most party scenes anywhere are just sleeze pits that attract mentally ill, and emotional cripples. The ones who aren't usually grow out of it fast. But in real connections they can't get along with a damn puppy if they tried to. Misery loves company... Why? Fake socializing is based on fear. In order to develop real social skills and the ability to love another requires one to know and love their own self first!

    3) Public schools are nothing more than state propaganda machines for children. The same way Disney is just MTV for those under 15. This is another strong motive why the Progressives make up the lies against homeschooling. (i.e "your kid won't learn the right way... he'll never know how to make friends... only religious weirdos like the Amish do that... he'll fail college... etc.")

    4) States can't afford them any longer. States are in debt beyond repair. The economy is running on pixie dust. Sorry. Teachers, cops, firefighters, bus drivers, whatever... the states can't keep you. What is so hard to comprehend?

To make you feel better, everybody else is going to lose their jobs at some point as well. Those who give services with their occupations (luxuries to the American population) - won't be able to stay around much longer either. They'll be next on the list following the state workers.

After them those at retail stores and resturaunts will be laid off. Most likely this will all happen in a couple-month-span-sweep where we'll also have hyperinflation. How greedy can those in the Unions get? Keep straining the system guys. You're only dumping gasoline on a fire.

  2. Good for RI. I've worked in the public school system as a substitute teacher and have seen first hand how worthless most teachers are. And not just the teachers the principles and school board members also. Substituted a few days for a second grade teacher who I knew from college. I had tutored her in math two years before that in very basic math, she couldn't grasp the concept of fractions. This was elementary math that was not even credited. How she had become a teacher one year later is beyond me. She somehow slipped through the cracks and that is just one example of what is educating our children.

  3. I was taught in business class in HS about "cold selling" crap nobody would buy on a normal day. I also got sent to principals office for questioning the idea of a "debt based" society. I hear both my teachers business's went into bankruptcy, but I'm doing great. So as long as I did the opposite of what she taught me, I ended up great. Thanks for nothing Dept of Education!

  4. Economic Analyst. The headline you created for this article is incorrect on two counts.
    1. The even hasn't happened yet (the headline is written in the present/past tense)
    2. The teachers are not being "fired" they are receiving dismissal notices. There is a major difference which the original article clarifies- the notices are being given to all teacher, but only a portion will actually be let go. Not all.

  5. Good, teachers absolutely suck. We should fire all the teachers, cut the police force to about 1/4 of its size, stop harassing people over drugs or random bullshit ordinances that the cops lie about anyway, and then cut the budget significantly. Then lower taxes as well.

The current climate has only really existed this way for about 30 years, and then at such high levels about the past 10. Our quality of life and the services delivered by the government hasn't increased one iota. We actually all have less than several decades ago. Inflation and then useless required garbage are the differences.

  7. Of course cut the military first, but that won't happen. That is a protest you don't want to bring the kiddie too.

You sound like a foreigner with social human values ,but these are amerikans conditioned from birth to talk real business ,free enterprise, profit and losses and the value of any wasted investments in educating their children as individualists to serve that system and its wars.

    Not social values.

  9. Todays lesson on state education from the Fascist of the months ‘Green book”by Gaddafi

    http://www.mathaba.net/gci/theory/gb3.htm#WOMAN

    EDUCATION
Education, or learning, is not necessarily that routinized curriculum and those classified subjects in textbooks which youths are forced to learn during specified hours while sitting in rows of desks. This type of education now prevailing all over the world is directed against human freedom.
State-controlled education, which governments boast of whenever they are able to force it on their youths, is a method of suppressing freedom. It is a compulsory obliteration of a human being's talent, as well as a coercive directing of a human being's choices. It is an act of dictatorship destructive of freedom because it deprives people of their free choice, creativity and brilliance. To force a human being to learn according to a set curriculum is a dictatorial act. To impose certain subjects upon people is also a dictatorial act.
State-controlled and standardized education is, in fact, a forced stultification of the masses. All governments which set courses of education in terms of formal curricula and force people to learn those courses coerce their citizens. All methods of education prevailing in the world should be destroyed through a universal cultural revolution that frees the human mind from curricula of fanaticism which dictate a process of deliberate distortion of man's tastes, conceptual ability and mentality.
This does not mean that schools are to be closed and that people should turn their backs on education, as it may seem to superficial readers. On the contrary, it means. that society should provide all types of education, giving people the chance to choose freely any subjects they wish to learn. This requires a sufficient number of schools for all types of education. Insufficient numbers of schools restrict human freedom of choice, forcing them to learn only the subjects available, while depriving them of the natural right to choose because of the unavailability of other subjects.
Societies which ban or monopolize knowledge are reactionary societies which are biased towards ignorance and are hostile to freedom.
Societies which prohibit the teaching of religion are reactionary societies, biased towards ignorance and hostile to freedom. Societies which monopolize religious education are reactionary societies, biased towards ignorance and hostile to freedom. Equally so are the societies which distort the religions, civilizations and behaviour of others in the process of teaching those subjects.
Societies which consider materialistic knowledge taboo are likewise reactionary societies, biased towards ignorance and hostile to freedom. Knowledge is a natural right of every human being of which no one has the right to deprive him or her under any pretext, except in a case where a person does something which deprives him or her of that right.

  11. Good lay them all off! I'll bet they will be willing to negotiate when it's time to renew contract. Then tell them there will be no contracts. If you don't do the job up to standards you will be terminated! This union bullshit has to cease, there is far to many good people not working to keep feeding the parasites.
