Britain should start spying on Eurozone neighbours, former MI6 chief says

By Damien McElroy, Foreign Affairs correspondent

Sir Richard Dearlove, who served as head of MI6 until 2004, said that Britain must not be “squeamish” about using the intelligence services to defend its economic interests.

The former C said central banks like the Bank of England maintained extensive networks of contacts to secure information on future developments. But specialist intelligence agencies should also undertake the task of financial security.

“I am addressing the future of the euro and how defaults affect us economically,” he told the Global Strategy Forum. “Efficient central bankers should be able to handle themselves but I am indicating they could and might need help from time to time on the currency issue.”

Sir Richard added that 2008 financial crisis had changed his views on the role of intelligence agencies in protecting the economy. Britain needed to be 'forewarned and forearmed’ in anticipation of a future crisis.

  1. This guy is about as brilliant as Colin Powell. I can only envy the height of this man's wisdom after his long, adventurous career. In a potential nuclear missile crisis I'm wondering if he would say something like, "Think about it very slowly."

Such pointless, overpaid people. Term limits? Maybe there should be age limits?

I have a sad feeling if we no longer had these spy networks like MI6, filled with pencil neck goofs that never get their hands dirty but get a big fat pay check for knowing things anyone with a computer and half a brain can know, the western world would most likely be just as fine as it is now... AND WE ARE NOT FINE! SO HOW MUCH GOOD DID THESE SENILE GEEKS DO US!?

Interesting enough, these schmucks make all the failed foreign policies which send in the boys that are physically strong but mentally frail to go slaughter and get slaughtered.

Technology itself is making infantry an obsolete component to a military. They have these guys train to go door to door simulating what they think will occur in urban warfare. And it's the same goons in the MI6 and CIA that design this laughable curriculum which officers that have actually seen combat complain is costing lives.

It isn't the men themselves on the front lines that are not doing the job right, the reality is that all someone has to do if they see a few helicopters transporting foot soldiers is shoot the chopper with a rocket. If you have some soldiers being transported in hummers all it takes is an insurgent pretending to be a peaceful civilian to walk up to the hummer as if to ask for directions, then take out a bomb and that's that. And of course if someone has their scope on you from a distance away then only their mercy will save you.

Nothing will save the troops from this, no kind of training besides being taught suspicion. The last decade the media attempted to show Iraq and Afghanastan as this wonderful success where our guys are invincible and totally have it all under control. Yeah... notice they stopped showing coverage from Afghanastan as far back as 2007? That's because the Taliban is winning.

Sorry for rambling. I just don't think Sir Dearlove is qualified enough to give people advice on this kind of stuff.

  4. Currency Wars?
Here we see in these comments the role of the “deep state’ financial terrorists in the Anglo/American bankster and military bloc
    But defending what?
The security of the americans ,the british people?
National indepenence in the third world ?
    NO!

The central banksters an their fiat paper debt money centered on the dollar hegemony empire in world trade and finance!

Saddam and Gaddafi were attempting to break from the pricing of oil in US dollars racket. That was classed as financial terrorism and acts of war against the US dollar and the central bankers money system.

    He said .

It has long been proved that the CIA finances a lot of its activities by organising and
money laundering the international drug trade from the ghettoes of America to Afghanistan .
    See some proof.
*****The Most Shocking Conspiracy Theories That Turned Out to be True*****
    http://www.marketskeptics.com/2010/06/most-shocking-conspiracy-theories-that.html

The deep state of the ruling financial elite includes not just the intelligence agencies but sadly the use of the foot soldier victims led into wars for the banksters and dollar hergemony system by their officers.
As colon bowel ‘patriot” showed with his weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, connections between saddam and bin laden done 9.11and Alciada anthrax act at the UN.

He was promoting the fake intelligence information of the CIA an the UK that passes as unquestionable truth for the
    US and UK military.
Well nato and the US is not being “squeamish” in sizing contol of oil and fighting economic warfare in Libya in seizing the billions of National banked assets. As
in Afghanistan with bin laden , they partner with their Saudi and other Arab dollar
puppets in promoting an arming “rebels” of the Wahabi muslim brotherhood”type as
acceptable responsible “anti militants”and anti nationalists of the moderate Muslim type .

whatever works for the banksters wars !
