6 Big GOP Lies About The Economy

Is Social Security a Ponzi scheme as Republican Presidential candidate Rick Perry claims? Noted author and former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich debunks that claim and five other lies the right-wing tells about taxes, government and the economy.

The lies Reich debunks:
1) Tax cuts to the rich and corporations trickle down to the rest of us. (No it doesn't and it never has.)
2) If you shrink government you create jobs. (No, you get rid of jobs that way.)
3) High taxes on the rich hurts the economy. (No, the economy grew when the US did this under Eisenhower.)
4) Debt is to be avoided and it is mostly caused by Medicare. (No, if debt is properly used to grow the economy, it becomes a smaller part of the budget because of increased revenue and Medicare has the lowest overhead of any health insurance plan out there.) Read more........

  1. The oligarchy of D or R seems to have completely brainwashed the whole US population. Considering you all think there is a difference between the political parties (other than what the say when they open up their pie hole), you deserve what is coming to this formerly free country.

  2. that #2..of course jobs are lost, jobs that exist on continuous debt spending so the question is should those jobs ever have been? seems if there's a demand for that service the private sector will replace, if it's just gov bureaucracy work then good, let it disappear-how much bureaucracy do we have anyway..ha..haha..hahahaha! :))..maybe bureaucracy levels might be seen in debt spending inputs per growth in the economy, economic boost per doller spent..what is it now..some 15cents for every doller..some growth on huge amounts of...waste. long ago it was over a buck for every buck injected..what's changed, grown larger, overlarge, a burden? lol

  3. Civilized comments about this drivel? Reich has not a clue about the economy. If he does then his statements in this article are false and he knows it.
