Cities Collapsing throughout the USA

"With enough abandoned lots to fill the city of San Francisco, Motown is 138 square miles divided between expanses of decay and emptiness and tracts of still-functioning communities and commercial areas. Close to six barren acres of an estimated 17,000 have already been turned into 500 "mini- farms," demonstrating the lengths to which planners will go to make land productive.
The city, like the automakers, has to shrink to match what's left, said June Thomas, a professor of urban and regional planning at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
"The issue is how," she said. "There's no vision."
"People are moving out of the city, trying to find work," said David Martin of Wayne State University's Urban Safety Program. Those who stay "can't afford to move out."

"Property abandonment is getting so bad in Flint that some in government are talking about an extreme measure that was once unthinkable -- shutting down portions of the city, officially abandoning them and cutting off police and fire service.
...
[Mayor] Brown said that as more people abandon homes, eating away at the city's tax base and creating more blight, the city might need to examine "shutting down quadrants of the city where we (wouldn't) provide services."
He did not define what that could mean -- bulldozing abandoned areas, simply leaving the vacant homes to rot or some other idea entirely."

"Cul-de-sac neighborhoods once filled with the sound of backyard barbecues and playing children are falling silent. Communities like Elk Grove, Calif., and Windy Ridge, N.C., are slowly turning into ghost towns with overgrown lawns, vacant strip malls and squatters camping in empty homes."

"In its depth and suddenness, the U.S. economic and financial crisis is shockingly reminiscent of moments we have recently seen in emerging markets (and only in emerging markets): South Korea (1997), Malaysia (1998), Russia and Argentina (time and again).
...
But there’s a deeper and more disturbing similarity: elite business interests—financiers, in the case of the U.S.—played a central role in creating the crisis, making ever-larger gambles, with the implicit backing of the government, until the inevitable collapse. More alarming, they are now using their influence to prevent precisely the sorts of reforms that are needed, and fast, to pull the economy out of its nosedive. The government seems helpless, or unwilling, to act against them."

  3. No morals, people are dependent on fast food and entertainment, most don't know how to grow food or hunt anymore. People in tight knit church based communities in the Midwest with lot's of local farmland will fare very well. Others will not....

Me too. The little town I grew up in is going downhill fast. No money and they can't keep up the basic maintenance of their homes, if they can keep them at all. It's called blighted. It was a thriving little town.
I go to Detroit, and it's like Berlin after the bombing. I remember when it was thriving and cranking out cars and trucks to supply the world. It's called blighted now.
The current small city I'm living in is headed in that direction. Foreclosures everywhere, in every level of neighborhood, including the rich areas. City services and state services are being downsized.
Smalltown American has been devastated for a while, as you said. Read "Harvest of Rage" by Joel Dyer to get an idea of why this happened to our country.

Whenthey own Amerika, youwill have no rights or liberties. So just sit back and watch it happen. When it is too late, you will wonder why everyone else just sat back and let this happen.

Buying a "mini farm" also buys into the destruction of personal wealth, destroying a working farm that feeds many, and most usually end up figuring out, it ain't as easy as once thought. If you are just now waking up within the last year, it is probably too late.

A Nation that forgets GOD, and serves greed, complacency, ignorance and the warnings of their Prophets; can expect clearly what the Bible says will happen..And it is starting with a fervor now.. Not until this Nation serves GOD and puts aside the evil, and personally become informed as to what and why this Nation is going down -- will there be a chance for a recovery to a new age and a new time for this Nation..

  25. We were living in trees when they met us. They showed us each in turn
That Water would certainly wet us, as Fire would certainly burn:
But we found them lacking in Uplift, Vision and Breadth of Mind,
So we left them to teach the Gorillas while we followed the March of Mankind.

We moved as the Spirit listed. They never altered their pace,
Being neither cloud nor wind-borne like the Gods of the Market Place,
But they always caught up with our progress, and presently word would come
That a tribe had been wiped off its icefield, or the lights had gone out in Rome.

With the Hopes that our World is built on they were utterly out of touch,
    They denied that the Moon was Stilton; they denied she was even Dutch;
    They denied that Wishes were Horses; they denied that a Pig had Wings;
So we worshipped the Gods of the Market Who promised these beautiful things.

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "Stick to the Devil you know."

On the first Feminian Sandstones we were promised the Fuller Life
(Which started by loving our neighbour and ended by loving his wife)
Till our women had no more children and the men lost reason and faith,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "The Wages of Sin is Death."

In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
    By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "If you don't work you die."

Then the Gods of the Market tumbled, and their smooth-tongued wizards withdrew
And the hearts of the meanest were humbled and began to believe it was true
That All is not Gold that Glitters, and Two and Two make Four
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
    And the burnt Fool's bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

  26. Aaah, a Kipling follower.... So true.

This is the plan. First they break the American spirit. Then they take away our bullets. Then they take away our guns. They starve us and through a new law that forbids us to grow food to help feed our neighbors. (HR845) Riots and marches develop. Then they take away those 'problem citizens' to labor camps (FEMA) and they work as slaves or die. There's an anti Christ among us, but we're too damn slow to realize it. So what do we do?

  34. There are certainly problems, big problems now but looking for solution from religion is equally nuts. Hasn't people realize religion is part of the problem instead of solution? People need to use their brain. The only God in this world is human ourself. We need to limit our egos and greed. Otherwise certain doom is waiting not to far for us.

  35. Yes anonymous that poem was freaking awesome, It's "Gods of the Copybook Headings" by Kipling. Read the whole thing (google it). Just don't confuse his phrase "Gods of the Market" with the current meaning of "the market". In his day it meant those selling the current asinine meme; the equivalent today might be those who say "We can spend our way out of debt".
Then the poem makes more sense.

forgotten to obey his commandments ...

    > 1) The Sabbath - 2) The Passover - 3) All the Holy Days of GOD and his seasons...

    > Sabbath - breaking is a prime reason for the anger of GOD - " Nehemiah 13:18 "

    > 1) The Sabbath has been replaced by Sunday (LOOK IT UP-CHECK IT OUT-SEARCH FOR THE TRUTH-"1st Thessalonians 5:21 KJV"- "PROVE ALL THINGS" {Constatine & the Catholic Church}) 2) The Passover has been replaced by Easter-A PAGAN God & HOLIDAY- 3) All the Holy Days of GOD have been replaced by Chritmas,Halloween, etc.,ALL PAGAN !

    # 3... Who is Israel?...

    > " 2nd Kings 17:34 "... Jacob's name changed to "Israel" by GOD

    > Israel (Jacob) had 12 sons

    # 4... When did all these problems begin?...

    > "1982"

    > Read " Daniel 4:20-23 "...

    > The tree symbolizes BABYLON, and was cut down & iron and brass were strapped to the stump

    > Iron and brass symbolize the stop of growth until times of the end

    > Iron also symbolizes Rome (the Republican form of government)

    > The brass or bronze symbolizes Greece (the Democratic form of government)

    > We,at this time, have lost our Republic

    > Punishment = 7 years for Nebuchadnezzar, also 7 X 360 = 2520 years until the iron & brass are removed so that

    BABYLON will again rise

    > 360 days = 1 year for 1 day

Dont blame our countries problems on "abortion". Come on man use your brain.
The government has been planning the down fall of america for years and they've succeeded. They hit the mark when they knew thousands upon thousands of working class americans would buy into the easy credit american dream: they own a $500,000 house on an $85,000 yearly income, own 2-3 cars, lots of gizmos & gadgets, boats, atv's, timeshares, new boobs for the wife and weekly spa treatments for her and the girls, they load up they're overwieght kids with the newest video games, ipods, cellphones, they take exotic vacations while showing off to family, friends and co-workers on they're myspaces and facebooks. And yet in the pit of they're gut they know they cant afford this life style but it doesnt bother them. Well not until its to late and the repo man shows up but hey who cares. They're LIVING THE GOOD LIFE! Racking up sick amounts of debt they think the government will save them or better yet those of us who didnt buy into the bullsh*. . . ya we'll bail them out. Just like we've bailed out the bankers. And in the end we see these a**holes on t.v. crying how they lost it all.
The rich are the only ones who benefit from the downfall. Its never about the average working american. It never will be. We work hard, we suffer, we pay all to keep wall st. and the rich swimming in champaign and caviar

First, there is Prosperity, which then, in time leads to Pride. Then that Pride for material things and the soft life leads to Sin and Wickedness. Then it leads to Pain, Suffering and Destruction. Finally, the people are Humbled and Repent.

  53. There seem to be a lot of different perspectives represented here. That IS good. There is a reason that the First Amendment of the Constitution was 1st: The founding fathers of our country KNEW that this crisis was going to happen. They knew that EVERY government the world has ever seen has become corrupt. For those with Christian faith: look at the inter-Testamental period when the leaders of Israel made Gods Law something to serve their own greed (not to mention all those kings...)
Those without faith in Christ, need look no further than the History books. NO civilization has survived, and that is because those in charge began to believe that they were something more than what they actually were.
Originally, our American Government was supposed to be self limiting. It was supposed to help protect the people, potentially at the expense of itself. The founders could not foresee every contingency, but they did the best they could. Now the American Government has become something that has a different purpose: It now lives to sustain and grow itself as well as to protect itself against the people it is supposed to serve. Before its inevitable collapse, it will wipe out a significant number of the 'governed'. Those who expect the Government to take care of them will be in for a rude surprise. It will take care of those who are wealthy enough to warrant its protection, and will somehow 'dispose' of the others. (Ignoring them as they starve works.)
All we can do is hope that they will ignore those of us who are quietly striving to support ourselves without trying to make too many waves.
Fortunately, Christ has said He will come back for some of us before it gets that bad. Then, someone who is left will find a well prepared homestead to use, if they know what to do with it.
