World Bank could run out of money 'within 12 months'

The World Bank is close to running out of money, its president, Robert Zoellick, has disclosed.
The Bank, whose job it is to support low-income countries, has had to hand out so much cash in the wake of the financial crisis that its resources could run dry within 12 months.
“By the middle of next year we will face serious constraints,” said its president Robert Zoellick, as he launched a major campaign to persuade rich nations to pour more money into the Washington-based institution.
He conceded that such a task was likely to be extremely difficult, given the difficulties facing countries in the wake of the developed world’s biggest recession since the Second World War.

  6. 4:17, I agree but I guess they didnt vote for "trickle down economics," the hollywood types, and high profile dems did, and their hypocrisy and unwillingness to donate is deafening.

  7. 507 I believe your history knowledge is cloudy, let me edjimacate you, trickle down ecnomics was a term defined by will rogers and mostly is attributed to ronald reagan, thus reagan was a republican, and hollywood is almost all democrats, so no hollywood did not ask for trickle down economics, that is a right wing trick, but what the whole country got, was "trickled on", economics.

  8. hey 6:22 some people have to work, and support you lazy "professor"types we dont have all day like you to polish up on our old college history books. Anyway trickle down is not a phrase owned by any political party, how elitist to own a phrase. spread the wealth is what you wanted, and BTW, I want that too. I want all multi millionaires to spread the wealth, what happened to the promises?I just want the dems to step up to the plate already.

  10. 701 just joking, guess you cant take a joke. I am not lazy, I am actually a self made businessman. Pay my fair share for everything, and yes trickle down was adoped by reagan a republican, look it up, it was coined by Will Rogers, but adapted by reagan and republicanism. I want people to spread the wealth, but that is not happening as the top 2% own 95% of the wealth, while the bottom 98% fight for the scraps and that gap is widening everyday.
