An Economic Emergency: Nobody Is Listening

How loud do the alarms have to get? There is an economic emergency in the country with millions upon millions of Americans riddled with fear and anxiety as they struggle with long-term joblessness, home foreclosures, personal bankruptcies and dwindling opportunities for themselves and their children.
The door is being slammed on the American dream and the politicians, including the president and his Democratic allies on Capitol Hill, seem not just helpless to deal with the crisis, but completely out of touch with the hardships that have fallen on so many.

While the nation was suffering through the worst economy since the Depression, the Democrats wasted a year squabbling like unruly toddlers over health insurance legislation. No one in his or her right mind could have believed that a workable, efficient, cost-effective system could come out of the monstrously ugly plan that finally emerged from the Senate after long months of shady alliances, disgraceful back-room deals, outlandish payoffs and abject capitulation to the insurance companies and giant pharmaceutical outfits.

The public interest? Forget about it.

With the power elite consumed with its incessant, discordant fiddling over health care, the economic plight of ordinary Americans, from the middle class to the very poor, got pathetically short shrift. And there is no evidence, even now, that leaders of either party fully grasp the depth of the crisis, which began long before the official start of the Great Recession in December 2007.

  3. that's because people are too lazy to - go to the butcher; get a 3lb. cut of good, grass fed
angus; pay the 10 bucks and take it home & cook it the right way.

it will feed your family of 4 twice.

It's not mcdonalds fault - it's the 2 billion morons a year that eat that shit - over and over and over.

Ya know what - isn't it about time people ( all) in this world start calling a spade a spade ? If your too stupid to learn about nutrition - don't blame me.

if your too busy to tend to your finances - don't burn me.

if you father 10 kids out of wedlock - don't expect me tp pay for the bastards.

if you buy a 40k car with no job, no money down
    and it's repoed - don't call me.

if some slick talkin' banker slides you in the home of your dreams and it sounds too good to be true - don't call me to bail your dumb ass out
when the balloon payments hit in 5 years.

if you " only snorted it once" and are now hooked - don;t look for me to feel sorry for your strung out ass -- or pay for your rehab.

if your white, black, red yellow 0 or some variation thereof - don't expect me to feel oh so sorry cause you be in a minority group - group this ahole.

I am damn sick and tired of people in this country whining about trivial shit that somehow
    has become their birthright.

Fuck that ! I've busted my ass for 52 years now
Nobody EVER gave me Jack shit nothin' & I
am better person for it. Don't have much; but what i do have is bought and paid for & the love of my life is still with me.

    Together we march on.

  4. A bit self-righteous 2:16? Not the best attitude to have when the SHTF. If you want to march on together, I think I'll skip marching with you, you don't sound like someone I'd like to be hanging around with.

  5. 52 years! congratulations. You've outlived the average pre-industrial revolution human by some 12 years.

Now you can die in peace.

  6. Re: comment above: The sooner the better. Not to sound callous but that guy (2:16) sounds like a real jerk.

  7. @ 2:16: They don't have to ask for you to bail them out, you already did.

  8. Thanks for posting that link for Mcdonald's. They had another story about how Burger King is going to sell beer in some of their store's. TOO funny!

  9. Does everyone remember Citi's "Live Richly" campaign? Or how about Mastercard's Priceless.

    Brainwashed sheep.

  10. 2:16 and the other smug "retirees": Uh oh, all you angry seniors and soon to be retirees. How will you function without your meds or pensions if the SHTF? I feel sorry for you older bitter people who have had a good life and yet have nothing but scorn for everyone else. When it's finally your turn to go, all we can say is, good riddance.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I agree that the older people should share their wisdom and life lessons instead of grumbling about everyone else.

Life is too short to be bitter and angry.

We all need to work together instead of blaming others.

The true "evil" is not the average American.

  12. 5:48, like retirees have something to lose when the SHTF? They don't aim, they just pull the trigger in your direction until its empty. Whoops! My dementia acted up. Sorry

  13. OK-OK-OK to all posters on 2:16. Forget the attitude presented, and pay close attention to what 2:16 said:
Cooking vs fast food (toxic and expensive)
    Finances (lack of management of)
    Overspending (eyes bigger than wallet)
    Affairs (unfaithful to wife, etc)
Dope (using drugs for recreation and addiction)
    Race Problems (cultural dislikes)
    (And a host of others)

2:16 simply does not want the blame for the stupidity of these actions by his fellow Americans. I see no fault on that. These items of stupidity got everyone into the deep cavern we are now in. A turn from honesty, right thinking, hard work, and family values brought us where we now are. 2:16 is saying too many people are greedy, immoral, lazy, uncompassionate and selfish. What's not true about that statement? I am a retiree, but not bitter, or uncompassionate. Its not my fault I was raised in the past and in the generation that did not neglect moral compass. But I am so glad I did, as I have had a great life.
The problem is, and why 2:16 is being trashed here, is that too many people screwed the pooch and are paying a heavy price for it, but get angry when they have to face it, let alone from someone else.
I cast out no blame to anyone. People must navigate thru the life they are given. I would rather blame our culture and its effects on people than the people themselves. Our young people are not all to blame for financial fiascos when (we) their parents FAILED to teach them the value of money, and the danger of debts! Forget that they did not want to hear it--we still failed them in these areas of teaching. In closing, in some parts of the United States values and morals are still high.
We CAN get it all back. We just need to rethink.

  14. About 2:16's comments I can understand his frustrations. But I think he is missing the bigger picture. The common people in this land have been targeted by those with more power. The people have been victimized and set up for the fall. If he thinks for one moment that it is not true then he is a fool. It's not about being dumb or lazy. When those in authority either let those in public service mislead or deceive the public for profit then those in power are at fault. That is what GOVERNment is all about but rather greed has taken over all those in power. Should those little people be to blame? Should the little people blame each other? No because until the big oil companies did their thing, and the gov did false flag terrorism, people were getting along rather well.. Don't forget the whole picture or events that lead to all this! Most of all don't let the mass media distort what truly happened.. A true conspiracy against the people has taken place and the media tries it's best to blame it on the little guy when that is not the case at all..

  16. As soon as the Granite Countertops in my McMansion are polished this morning, I will then go shopping for a new Lexus SUV, but first I will stop at McDonalds for a big mac for lunch. After than I will a $230.00 haircut and color.
Whats the problem on this blog?

  17. Trex It is close to impossible to change what is happening the spy network of this lovely land is making sure ppl cannot change anything. It's about media control. If people can grab ahold of the media power then they would have a chance but that is not likely to happen..

  18. 8:20 you make no sense at all. A Big Mac for lunch? Ridiculous.

  20. The Golden Rule: Do unto others as ye would have others do unto you. What goes around, comes around folks. We will only be as strong as the weakest link, so to ignore someone in need [financial, emotional, spiritual, or other] only weakens the entire structure.
