ORLANDO, Fla. -- Job hunters are facing a new trend: businesses asking recruitment companies to keep unemployed people out of their job pools.
Peter May, of Atlanta, said he was hoping Orlando-based recruiter "The People Place" would help him find a job with Sony Ericsson. The company is moving its headquarters to Buckhead, which is located outside Atlanta.
May said he was mortified when he read the message on the website. In all caps, and bold type, it said, "No unemployed candidates will be considered at all."
Sony Ericcson is supposed to bring 180 jobs to Buckhead, and was lured there with the prospect of a $4 million in state tax credits. But May said if the company is refusing to hire the unemployed, that deal should be rescinde
During a phone conversation with Atlanta station WXIA, Howard Lawson, of "The People Place," refused to discuss the Sony Ericsson listing specifically, but he did say that he has seen a trend of employers looking to hire employed applicants.
Recruitment experts say many companies are opting out of so-called passive job seekers for a number of reasons. First, it could take longer to get them up to speed in professions that require constant training. They also say people who have not been laid off are believed to be the best in the fields, therefore more valuable.

Messed up....
ReplyDeleteBoycott Now!
ReplyDeleteThat's just plain wrong!
The most valuable employees are kept while the others are laid off? Not from what I've seen! Actually, it's often the older, more experienced and high paid employees who get axed so they can hire a cheaper replacement.
ReplyDeleteThis really makes me angry.
Have'nt you figured out yet the game is rigged and we the consumers are the losers and always will be, while goldman sachs creates tragedy and bets on it and makes billions, we starve and are denied jobs, they are our masters and we are slaves.
ReplyDeleteI will not wish bad for anyone but I must say Sony is going to reap what they are sowing. As the economy goes down, down, down so will their sales...enjoy it while we can
ReplyDeleteMakes sense if your are unemployed for too long means you are useless.
ReplyDelete616 you are useless
ReplyDeleteIm gonna go watch clusterfuck live on BP TV.
ReplyDeleteSONY SUCKS
ReplyDeleteI AM NOT GOING TO BUY SONY PRODUCTS
AND I AM GOING TO GET OTHER PEOPLE
TO ALSO BOYCOTT SONY
Actually maybe we should boycott
most Corporations as much as possible
they do not respect people
they do not respect their customers
they only respect money
Pretty soon all Countries will be like
the slave labor in China.
Is Sony owned by OBAMABP? or is OBAMABP owned by Sony?
ReplyDeleteTake a sledge hammer to your Playstation 3 now!!

ReplyDeleteremmeber the arizonia they got thier japenese products air deleiverd .
i think sony worked on the timeing fuses
Wow! The way I see it then...If I were to take the elevator up to the 13th floor Personnel Office of Sony Corp. and show them my hairnet and McHappy Face card as viable proof that I am presently gainfully employed flippin` hamburgers at McDonald`s, then I should have a chance of hiring on! Sure makes sense to me....! I are so McHappy- I`m gonna cum on my PS3! woo woo!
ReplyDeleteSONY = Standard Oil of New York. The company was started with funds from the Rockefeller family. I'm not suprised.
ReplyDeleteThis is DISGUSTING. What is wrong with people? Sony will have its comeuppance because of this. I am writing to them today. I won't purchase another one of their damn products.
ReplyDeleteThe slave labor in China ,as in the stike by car workers at Honda ,are starting to unite and fight against the developement of a labour aristocracy with one section of the "official" "unionised"
ReplyDeleteworkers getting comparitively huge benifits and high wages and the young and new workers "temporary" "intern" workers getting paid shit.
The official Chinese "unions" are not very happy and think the Chinese workers should all just accept this kind of division into old and new workers with different wages and pensions levels ,just like the official unions and the Obama government of "lefties" established in the US car companies after the industries bailout.
American workers and their "Unions" think that this two kind of workers structure for the benifit of the higher paid Labor aristocracy is just fine.
'In order to save Jobs"
Seems that the Chinese workers are getting a backbone while poorer american workers can only beg to their unions and crawl to their
employers for low pay jobs and accept whatever they get given. A two classes of worker, individual contract, lackey Union system.
I look forward to the day when I say 'adios' to corporate employment. In the meantime, I will continue to loot and rape from them, and keep stacking my gold and silver, higher.
ReplyDeleteBefore anyone says, "why don't you do it now?" It's way too much money. WAYYY too much.
Sony is now a brand name i will never buy...
ReplyDeleteMan, everyone in here are morons. The reason they ( Sony) does not want to hire unemployed is simply, they are unfit. Especially in this particular region. Uneducated backward hehaws, now everyone us angry. Wake up please, this industry needs very highly educated individuals. Not talking about 13th graders (community college) but reasonably educated folks. :) smilley face
ReplyDelete8:14, YOU are unfit. What about all the thousands of teachers across the country - you think they're uneducated? You must live among people who are so uneducated they make you feel intelligent by comparison. Just remember, pride comes before a fall. I wouldn't be surprised if you ended up unemployed yourself, because people reap what they sow.
ReplyDelete8:14 I think you need an education, so you can become a "very highly educated" individual like you say this company needs.
ReplyDelete8:36 most teachers are stupid, so yes. Do you not remember high school?
The less intelligence one has the more intelligent others will seem. The only respectable degrees are Doctorates and if it was not of the Liberal Arts. People with Bachelors are no different than people who dropped out of high school, to an extent. Talk to some graduates who just got their Bachelors, those kids are brain dead!
If one specializes in physics or mathematics then they get my respect but if anything else they are just lackwits.
Look at all these articles, many written by people who have their PhD, some of what these guys write is inaccurate, self explanatory, or just simple to understand. The people running the country right now have a high "education", so why is it all falling apart?
Go to a doctors office, again people with their Medical Doctrines, not so bright are they? Some are relatively, but there's nothing special there.
Previous Sony customer boycotting all Sony made or company owned products. If they won't hire jobless and help the economy why should I help them financially. I think SOny has lost their dam minds that this won't outrage their consumers. Definitely BOYCOTTING SONY FOREVER!!!!
ReplyDeleteNo more sony shit for me.
ReplyDelete6:34 said "SONY SUCKS

You see until that mindset takes hold and we boycott all corporations that are against the Constitution and also against operating with fair business practices I think we should boycott them all, do not spend any money with any corporations. Starve them out, as they realize they no longer have a viable product that people will support because of thier degenerate policies, they will CEASE TO EXIST.
All this continues IF people keep on buying and buying these companies are selling! So challenge yourself to buy NOTHING but the food to survive for a whole year and see what happens....That's the only weapon you have in your hands as a consumer of these companies!
ReplyDeleteEOE laws?
ReplyDeleteHey SONY!
ReplyDeleteGo back to Japan! I won't buy your products ever again!
Boycott Sony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
