Plaquemines Parish officials have asked state wildlife officials to investigate what they said is a massive fish kill at Bayou Chaland on the west side of the Mississippi River late Friday.
Photographs the parish distributed of the area shows an enormous amount of dead fish floating atop the water.
The fish kill was reported to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries and the cause has not yet been determined, the parish said. The fish were found in an area that has been impacted by the oil from the BP oil spill, the parish said.
The dead fish include pogies, redfish, drum, crabs, shrimp and freshwater eel, the parish said.

Hmmm, this article and the following article on this URL; "Feds Spent $800,000 of Economic Stimulus on African Genital -Washing Program
ReplyDeleteThe National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), a division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), spent $823,200 of economic stimulus funds in 2009 on a study by a UCLA research team to teach uncircumcised African men how to wash their genitals after having sex." really promotes trust in government doesn't it. Boy, people including myself have no idea what real SHTF looks like but I'm afraid we're going to be finding out soon.............
The important thing to remember is that this is all George Bush's fault!! This is in no way The fault of our dear leader, Barack Obama.
ReplyDeleteBP has said the gulf is clear, no oil, no harm to wildlife. This is obviously a natural phenomenon, you know, like the magic bullet theory, where bullets make left hand turns inside a body, exit a body and make a U turn into another body.
ReplyDeleteStrictly coincidence that BP has dumped millions and millions of gallons of Corexit and hundreds of millions of barrels of oil in the gulf and this death scene.
Wonder if whatever killed these fish and other wild life kills humans?
wonder what percentage of shrimpers etc will never work again gulf waters or not for..5 yrs or..? even in an area where it's ..not so bad, sales down? signed waiver taking responsiblity for any toxic fish? and other areas where oysters dead etc etc. So what, 80% manage to scrape by? 65%? Any reports on percent not working or gulf catch tonnage/amounts and what are some doing if no longer working VOO's...waiting for a settlement from BP?
