S&P, Moody's Warn On U.S. Credit Rating

With attention focused on sovereign-debt worries in Europe, two major credit-rating firms reminded investors again that the U.S. has debt problems of its own.

Investors bought Treasury debt nonetheless, ignoring the comments, which echoed prior statements by the companies and may still be months or years away from having any practical meaning.
"The warning on the U.S. rating is well-founded," said Brian Yelvington, chief fixed-income strategist at Knight Capital. "However, it will probably fall on deaf ears until the peripheral Europe story plays out."
Moody's Investors Service said in a report on Thursday that the U.S. will need to reverse the expansion of its debt if it hopes to keep its "Aaa" rating.
"We have become increasingly clear about the fact that if there are not offsetting measures to reverse the deterioration in negative fundamentals in the U.S., the likelihood of a negative outlook over the next two years will increase," Sarah Carlson, senior analyst at Moody's, said.

  1. U.S.A should rated junk by now. They have nothing to show but the printing press. 100% of the cell phones are manufacture outside of the U.S. That is right, 100%. Think about that for a moment.

  2. Kind of funny that they would issue that statement. Of course they didn't get the subprime bank thing right either with their AAA ratings. But given the reaction today to this news, the news from overseas and the action in gold the world is upside down.

  3. Breaking news. Violence riots in Tunia due to high food prices and unemployment cause the President to flee. Coming to America near you.

  4. Well I think we are close. Am I the only one who feels like they are a lone voice in the wilderness. It seems that as I ask friends and family what they are doing to prepare, I get the deer in the headlights look. I then start to question if I am crazy for prepping?

I have been slowly working on getting ready since 04, and at the time my wife and kids thought I was going nut's, but now they are on board. I just went off the deep end and acquired the largest " investment" in my plan so far. ...24 solar panels on 2 lorance trackers with 2 5,000 watt inverters tied into 12-12 volt lithium deep cycle batteries. I will now have 10,000 watts 24/7...grid up or down.

I have a 1-1/4 acre pond stocked with bluegill, catfish and largemouth bass. 10 Nigerian dwarf goats, 50 chickens, 20 rabbits, 18 ducks and 2 turkeys. Food, weapons, ammo, and medical supplies.

I refuse to be a sheeple, I hope folks get out of the market and use their money to prepare before it's worthless... Keep the faith.

  5. the article on bikes is interesting, with all the camera's at every intersection suppose they can up their income from bike traffic tickets aswell huh. hope they don't forget to charge a fee to the skateboards and rollerbladers..lolol

it's sort of funny, the squeeze. drive up fuel forcing more bike usage then unveil the plan to charge for bike usage..they'll make money no matter the circumstance and yet be perpetually broke I imagine

  6. WOW! 5:14 your preparation certainly sounds exorbitant. You've got all the goods and enough for a long term survival outpost (relatively).

All I have is enough canned food to sit inside for the first 30 days when all the morons will rush to the stores and get wiped out thanks to their greed or panic.

I guess after the "flood" I'll end up being someone who will work as an indentured servant to people like you.

I'm putting all my resources into my "self". Developing a Stoic inner sanctum, quitting all habits, obsessive reading to sound sophisticated, meditation, and working out. I'm also very young and good looking. So I'll be an asset to whatever group of people I end up with.

Thinking this time around there will be three types of people. Those who own land and major sources of necessities. Those who are assets that will be the primary force for those with them so they can do things like calculation, organizing, plan excursions or operations, etc. And the common folk - work horses, cooks, gardeners, mechanics, children, guards, etc.

Though the fourth type might be there as well. If thugs maybe take up weapons and band together to raid more timid people that may be a threat. Hopefully all the addicts and criminals will get wiped out in the first 30 days.
