Japan Nuclear Plant Conditions Worsening, local media reports

The Kyodo news agency says the cooling system has failed at three reactors at a nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture in northeastern Japan and that the coolant water's temperature has reached boiling level.


Conditions appear to be worsening at a nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture in northeastern Japan, according to local media.

The Kyodo news agency reported that the cooling system has failed at three reactors of Fukushima No. 2 nuclear power plant. The coolant water's temperature had reached boiling temperature, the agency reported, citing the power plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power.

The cooling system failure at the No. 2 power plant came after officials were already troubled by the failure of the emergency cooling system at the Fukushima No. 1 plant, which officials feared could cause a meltdown.

  4. I know little about nuclear plants but even so I can try and apply a little logical analysisto the calming propaganda being circulated..

    On Saturday, an explosion blew off the roof and upper walls of the building housing the facility's No. 1 reactor, stirring alarm over a possible major radiation release, although the government later said the explosion had not affected the reactor's core vessel and that only a small amount of radiation had been released.
    Bloomberg reports :
    ‘Three Mile Island
    Inadequate cooling of the reactor core may lead to a meltdown, the most dangerous kind of nuclear power accident because of the threat of radiation releases, according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The 1979 partial meltdown at Three Mile Island reactor in Pennsylvania failed to breach the containment building, according to the commission. “

    It was claimed at first ,that a controlled release of a little steam/vapor /coolant could relieve pressure in the overheating heating nuclear core of the plants, releasing only a “little” radioactive material .
    Now the roof of the outer containing building structure surrounding the pressurized nuclear core at one nuclear reactor has been blown right off .

    What pressure could have caused that outer building explosion ?
    It could only happen if the pressure of the inner pressurized core vessel of the reactor was already breached in at least a partial and continuing uncontrollable pressure meltdown .

    Otherwise where did that uncontrollable explosive force inside of the outer building shell casing for the cores destruction come from ?

    The laws of Physics apply after all and we cannot blame the use by an Al Ciaduh using aviation fuel with the power of hidden explosives to destroy buildings ,destroying this building too.

    This outer building shell was said to be the final defense to prevent widespread release of radioactive material if the core overheated as happened at Chernobyl ,but not at Three mile Island.

    With the apparent breach of the inner core walls the overheating core cannot be cooled anymore with coolant pumped under necessary pressure .
    Therefore the meltdown is real and ongoing at at least one nuclear reactor
    that cannot be apparently be contoled and any radiation release without that outer protective building shell will resemble the Chernobyl disaster not Three Mile Island .

    All the rest is appears to be just propaganda to prevent mass panic.
    Just as the Soviets tried to hide the extent of the damage at Chernobyl.
    But the government has evacuated 300,000 people from their homes already.
    Only “May”?

    Pumping sea water over the core might give off a radioactive steam into the atmosphere but cannot be sufficient to cool the core to prevent further meltdown from continuing And as there is now no longer an outer cover building to hold back the widespread radiation dispersion , we may be looking at Chernoby 2 or even Chenobyl 2 plus 3 and 4 as a at least 3 other nuclear plants are in big possible meltdown trouble too.

    It depends on the winds that where all that radiation may finish up.

    But,in which direction do the usual prevailing winds in the world and the Jetsteam flow to America?

I will belabor you with this little ditty: Seems to me I was cruising thru one of the sub articles yesterday pertaining to this radioactive cloud drifting toward North America (this of course was a supposed scenario in case the worst happened).The map basically showed this cloud hitting Canada first, covering Vancouver island, part of mainland BC, then oddly enough dipping down antinodal fashion just below the 49th parallel into the US and heading due east-completely missing Canada altogether until around Nova Scotia or so where it tilted back up towards Canada and eastward ho. It looked odd almost entirely missing Canada and almost wholly slicing along the US below the 49th parallel. The clincher here is evidentally this is the path of the trade winds-just below the border. So if any of you want to have a look back, I won`t bore you any longer on this (conjectural) map.

    now people 7.00 and 1.48 are posting some researched facts on what indeed may even be shown to be faked up hoax material .

    But the earlier , mere opinion or declaration of Hoax while claiming superior but unknown "researched " expert knowledge, but with no evidence given to back up that assertion ,was just posting worthless hot air.

  10. As far as I know, regarding the explosion at the plant, it is said to be caused be HYDROGEN. Going by a close up of the video it looks fairly powerful. I wonder how any structure within that explosion could have resisted being compromised. Are all 5 of these reactors slow fission reactors? What does this mean ultimately in terms of radiation pollution and overall catastrophe level?

  11. 7:52- You may be right. If you view it over and over again you can see on the left side an initial concussive shot @60-70 degrees. It is immediately ballistic (speed of sound+) as it develops a donut like smoke ring (all very quickly) It seems to me it is initiated by an ignition source (hydrogen)as it is immediately directed or concentrated. One would think an explosion due to expanding pressure alone would be slightly slower and more diffuse. Just a guess...

    Radioactive material even small minute particles actualy have a very, very long “ shelf life”, or “half life” and the levels may accumulate when absorbed by living organisms.
    Even very small amounts of for example depleted Uranium can lead to cancer and mutations of DNA that can be passed along to future generations ,even for exposed American soldiers ,not just for Iraqis or Afghanis .

    Just one small particle may be enough to finish you off.
    So it it not a question of concentrated “Power” of big immediate particle amounts ,but whether the levels of dispersion are high enough to quickly ,or even slowly accumulate to harm , for example over days weeks ,or even years to come for the millions of people and dumb American milk cows or sheeple that might be exposed .
    Whether they can read a map not.

    80-120 rads - You have a 10% chance of vomiting and experiencing nausia for a few days
    130 -170 rads - You have a 25% chance of vomiting and contracting other symptoms

    270-330 rads - 20% chance of death in 6 weeks, or you will recover in a few months.
    400-500 rads - 50% chance of death
    550-750 rads - Nausia within a few hours ; no survivors

    GIVEN THE MAP CONCERN and the INTENSITIES Calculated (fiction or not - I advise YOU TO DO WHAT YOU THINK (not Believe) is prudent for you and your family...

    Why aren't you heading on a plane to another country ASAP? Essentially the whole US and Canada is going to die according to this map.

    As another blogger said:

  22. I want to add that I actually like this site and visit it often. I probably agree with about 75% of the articles posted here and think EA is doing a good job culling alternative sources of information. Definately enough to keep my coming back but I guess I just won't comment anymore.

But theres no reason to get personal and come down on the readership for disagreeing with the occasional one that doesnt make full sense.

  27. Just got back from work -- as I mentioned before I emailed the company and was pleased to get a response within a few hours from a Dr. Joseph Young assuring me the map is a hoax. In the meantime they edited the frontpage of the website to include the information you posted above.
    I put this map on my Facebook page, after finding it here, and was dismayed to find out shortly thereafter that it was a hoax. I alarmed many of my friends and had to issue an apology. Upset I came here and posted the first (deleted) comment on this blog entry. In all fairness to EA I will admit I was terse and a little bit crass. I still don't think comments of dissent should be deleted but he is the owner/admin and has the right to do as he pleases. I like this site and would love to see a registration system, for those who wish to comment on the entries, so people have to, at the minimum, post under a recurring pseudonym. I'm sure, as things currently stand, he has to deal with a large amount of trolls and spammers, especially of the head-in-the-sand type.
    Anyway I'm glad this particular aspect is settled. The situation in Japan remains grave and there is much to play out in regards to the still tenuous situation at the reactors.

  28. We's all gonna dies ... we's all gonna dies!! Not. Bad news and tough sledding for the Japanese in the plant's 10 mile evac radius but rad levels less an issue than freezing homeless in the snow falling right now. Go ahead though and ingest your chemical supply store iodide and harm yourselves unnecessarily. And dump all nukes and run your cars on wind propellers. Sheesh. This place took a 9.0 and survived only to have a history bending 33 foot tsunami kill the cooling pumps power. Lessons to be learned absolutely. Hysterical reaction reducing us to candles in the dark and pawns of the Arabs won't help. Wind and solar are 20 years from any kind of rational efficiency. We better think sanely about what we do with energy that works well and can be improved now ... nuclear and natural gas. Work on alternatives but be realistic about their ultimate contributions.
