Relief All Round As Behind-The-Scenes Diplomacy Saves The Day

Jackie Calmes

The showdown to pass legislation to address the debt crisis was the ultimate test of divided government, write Jackie Calmes and Jennifer Steinhauer.
WASHINGTON: On Friday night, the US President, Barack Obama, called the Speaker, John Boehner, just after the Republican House leader had persuaded his rebellious Republicans, on the third effort, to pass legislation to address the debt crisis.
''Congratulations on finally getting your bill through,'' Mr Obama said, according to an aide. ''You know you're not going to get through the Senate, so now we need to focus on a solution.''
About 48 hours later, the President again called Mr Boehner. ''Do we have a deal?'' Mr Obama asked, then stopped abruptly.

U got that right. No wonder precious metal prices are going up and up.
American economy is trapped. If we stop borrowing the economy crashes. If we keep borrowing we are kicking the can down the road and result will be high interest rate and hyperinflation which leads to the death of the dollar and end the empire. Either way America is screwed to the bone. America is addicted to debts. We need to live within our means.
