THE U.S.A. IS NOT THE ROMAN EMPIRE….

Time to put on my myth busting cap again. This time, it looks like the USA is turning into Rome. But probably not. This is a comparison we almost always hear from hyperinflationists, those making ridiculous claims about the USA being bankrupt or those who are excessively worried about the influence of the government in the USA. And maybe some of this is justified to a certain degree. After all, it was largely government ineptitude that led to the decline of the Roman Empire.

Before any discussion about the Roman Empire begins, we should put things in perspective. The rise and fall of Rome was a spectacular historical progression. Although the fall of Rome is often described as some sort of event, the truth is that the rise and fall of Rome occurred over the course of 1,000 years with the final 200 years broadly being seen as the period of decline. The USA has only existed for 235 years and has only been a superpower for about 100 of those years. This doesn’t mean we have 765 years left to party, but some perspective is appropriate. The tendency to view the fall of Rome as an event and not a gradual progression is highly misleading. Read more....

  1. No, we are NOT the Roman Empire, our forefathers took that into account when they created this nation. However, to say we are not failing as a nation is not true either. All nations have "growing pains" and most make stupid mistakes at some point...like creating an environment where manufacturing goes over seas and the people recieve too many freebies in our case. While you can not say we are like this or that empire, you can say that stupidity (as Einstien said) is repeating the mistakes (of the past)and expecting different results. When people say "just like the Roman Empire" they mean we are repeating many of the mistakes they did that directly led to their failure. Yeah; it's a different time, but stupidity is still stupidity.

  2. Unlike the USA, the Romans were not shy about publicly declaring their plans to control the rest of the world. Neither were the Nazi's. They wore their uniforms for the world to see.

These chickenshits hide behind behind our Constitution and wear suits, so the only way you can tell is by their actions. They to will come to pass.

  3. there's the outworking of empire, and the idea behind such things..which died? nwo=nre. bigger then the old, as the known world is known now much larger.
so nationstate idea is swallowed up in the idea of empire, unity, one world, shared sacrifice, globalism, free trade, political and fiscal and monetary union, centralization, oversight, panels...

like the fall of rome wasn't an event but gradual, so the rising isn't an event but gradual as the idea never fell.
