The Proof Is In The Numbers: America Is Getting Poorer

The U.S. economy is in deep, deep trouble and the proof is in the numbers. The following are 12 statistics that reveal just how far the standard of living in America is declining....
1 - According to the Census Bureau, median household income dropped in 34 U.S. states in 2009, and the only state where median household income actually increased was in North Dakota.
2 - The Census Bureau data also revealed that of the 52 largest metro areas in America, only the city of San Antonio did not see a decline in median household income in 2009.
3 - 35 percent of all U.S. households now live on $35,000 or less.
4 - According to the Census Bureau, the percentage of Americans living below the poverty line is the highest it has been in 15 years.
5 - The number of Americans enrolled in the food stamp program passed the 41 million mark for the first time ever in June.
6 - The number of Americans in the food stamp program increased a staggering 55 percent from December 2007 to June 2010.
7 - One out of every six Americans is now enrolled in at least one anti-poverty program run by the federal government.
8 - Nearly 10 million Americans now receive unemployment insurance, which is almost four times as many that were receiving it back in 2007.
9 - In 2009, U.S. consumer spending experienced the biggest decline since 1942.
10 - As millions of young Americans struggled just to survive, marriages fell to a record low in 2009. Today, only 52% of Americans 18 years or older are married.
11 - The only group that saw their household income increase in 2009 was those making $180,000 or more.
12- According to the Huffington Post, the gap between the richest and poorest Americans grew in 2009 to its largest margin ever....

  1. lol, number 10 is a little weird.

"10 - As millions of young Americans struggled just to survive, marriages fell to a record low in 2009. Today, only 52% of Americans 18 years or older are married."

And that's supposed to be a bad thing for the ones not getting married? Okay... a greater pecentage of financially successful people stay single than the percentage of poor people that do. It's called independence. It's also why women who get pregnant at an early age never become anything in life and if the man stays with he'll generally end up at a dead end job.

Today that's more likely. In the past that would work out. The father would work his labor job and make a living while the mom took care of the house. Today they'll struggle like fuck if they can even get along. The man of course has his thoughts, "I wish I stayed away from partying and got hooked on books instead of pot..."

    Marriage lol...

  2. Government and lawyers have destroyed marriage. What intelligent American male would subject themselves to the financial ruin caused by today's marriage contract.
The govment will financially take care of them if they are stupid enough to get knocked up and the lawyers will have to find some other way to destroy the white male.

  3. Needs some stratification: how many lost their jobs to offshoring? and how many lost their jobs or income in the real estate collapse?

  5. With ignorant dependent parents come little slaves. It gets worse with each generation. The data is clear evidence the government schools have accomplished their evil deed.

  6. Yes, its a sad state of affairs when many American kids would have been better off aborted.

  7. "many American kids would have been better off aborted" WTF?

How about educating them instead? Fire the NEA and get the federal government out of the schools. It all went to hell in the sixties when first prayer was removed. and then revisionist history and PC hyphens entered into academics. These kids can't work at McDonald's without pictures on the cash register.

Their history and heritage have been co-opted.

  8. "Their history and heritage have been co-opted."

That is their history and the resulting current reality of life .

The natural developement of American individualism and the capitalist way of life.

You got what you asked and voted for.

A system of badly(or sufficiently) educated Dept Peons with ipads.

America gave up on productive industry and created a services economy for finance capital.

The old religious family ideals and an economy to support those old family lifestyles fell by the wayside. Now even though both husband and wife must get out in the workplace .

  9. 636 prayer being removed was a god send, religious kookery has no place in public, or in schools, keep it to yourselves keep it private so you dont look so kooky to people.

  10. American religious education in the schools was seperated in the constitution as part of the republican revolution .
Freedom of religion was freedom from religion especialy in the schools.

In feudalism the church controled education usualy as a state supported monopoly.

This incuded imposed tithes for supporting parsons priests and churches.

As a practical matter of the time, the English state included the king as head of the church of England and the preaching of official state religions was obligatory in the schools of some colonies .
In order for republican America to unite and be free from state support for one religion ,it was necessary to support freedom of speach for all religions ,education as a private matter.

The catch all, was the deliberately vague, non particular ,(non Christian? ) Supreme being from whom human rights were said to derive as "self evident" to common sense.

  11. I looked to the horizon & saw billowing clouds.I didn't see kitties or bunnies in the clouds. These clouds were dark & boiling. The only image I could
see were the letters CLASS WARFARE. Best wishes to the RICH.

  12. That's still a good 50% too high. I can understand why a woman would want to get married--a meal ticket for the rest of her life (she only has to actually stay with the guy until she gets bored, afterwards he still has to fund her). I don't understand why any rational man would do. But then the average American male has no sense to begin with.

If there's one good thing about this depression, at least it will have freed millions of young men from a lifetime of slavery.
