Food-Stamp Use Climbs to Record, Reviving Campaign Issue

Food-stamp use reached a record 46.7 million in June, the government said, as Democrats prepare to nominate President Barack Obama for a second term with the economy as a chief issue in the campaign.

Participation was up 0.4 percent from May and 3.3 percent higher than a year earlier and has remained greater than 46 million all year as the unemployment rate stayed higher than 8 percent. New jobless numbers will be released Sept. 7

  2. Easy solution. Cut all foreign aid to pay for it. No American should starve to create programs in other countries. The foreign countries need to figure it out on their own after 30 years of help from US taxpayers.

  3. I agree we give too much aid to countries that hate america and at the given oportunity would probably attack us,plus when shtf none of those countries would give any aid to usa.they need to worry more about americans who live below poverty than other countries.its heartbreaking to know children starve and die ,but what about our children.
